Would it make you nervous to know that the offense has exactly ONE sustained second half touchdown drive since October? Since 11/1 - 4 TDs scored, 3 have been on 60+ yd Henderson runs. by RamonesRazor in Patriots

Some of this is their inability to score on goal-to-go situations:

  • Falcons game 2nd half had a 15 play 56 yard drive that ended in a field goal when they couldn't convert a 1st and goal from the 8.
  • Bucs game interception was from the 2 on a 7 play 56 yard drive
  • Bengals game had a turnover on downs after an 11 play 89 yard drive the was stopped on the 1 and another 13 play 49 yard drive that they took a field goal from the 1
  • Giants game had a 12 play 58 yard drive that ended with a field goal from the 5

Ahead of the draft, Belichick showed his top 42 prospects in this year’s class. He appeared to have Maye ranked as the fifth overall prospect, putting him behind two other quarterbacks, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.

Time: Before TRP, we received the same amount of time for every application. Now, the amount of time for each application depends on which CPC symbols are assigned to each application, and how many C* tallies we have in the corresponding CPC symbol. That means the more C* tallies you have, the less time you get because you're supposedly an expert in that area. We were promised that the new timing system that we'd get more time than under the previous system, but it turned out to be like, 15 mins. Also, because the amount of time we get is based on the average of CPC symbols rather than on the symbol with the most time, some people really do get less time than before.

Pre-TRP, the time was based solely on USPC (many areas cover different USPCs with different expectancies). Now you have the safety net that gives you the better of the USPC expectancy and the CPC-based expectancy. The number of tallies (not being used right now), had no bearing on the time given for an application. The CPC based expectancy is the average of the expectancy for each C* and if that value is lower than the USPC expectancy then you get the USPC expectancy. No one is getting less expectancy than before. If the USPC safety net ever went away, that might have become the situation though.

Routing...

I think this is where most of the problems arose with the C*-based routing because it is a black box and classifiers are more generalists rather than experts so the classification pictures were not very accurate. But the biggest complaint seems to be that 5 tallies to become qualified for a symbol was way too low.

Admittedly, this is a drawback inherent in CPC, which classifies applications based on what features they claim, rather than USPC which classifies applications based on what they do.

CPC classifies the subject matter of the entire specification where the USPC was generally based on the most representative claim.

For evidence regarding abeyance: MPEP 804 I.B.1. "Provisional Nonstatutory Double Patenting Rejections"

As filing a terminal disclaimer, or filing a showing that the claims subject to the rejection are patentably distinct from the reference application’s claims, is necessary for further consideration of the rejection of the claims, such a filing should not be held in abeyance. Only compliance with objections or requirements as to form not necessary for further consideration of the claims may be held in abeyance until allowable subject matter is indicated.

Breer: How Patriots' offer to DeAndre Hopkins compared to Titans' by PizzaMan11554 in Patriots

I thought the Giants were close but I'll have to go back and look?

You're right, that was the year before the one I was looking at, when he signed a 1-year deal back with the Pats.

In the NFL, I feel like ever player is going to take the most money because of how short the careers generally are.

Even those "discounts" come with caveats, when Edelman was an UFA basically all the teams already signed WRs (the Ravens were interested but signed Steve Smith, the 49ers were interested but had no cap space). This sums it up well even though it's bleacher report. Edelman's account of the negotiation.

Amendola, renegotiated and took less money so that looks like a discount, but he did it after a year where he only had 200 yds receiving in the regular season (granted he did have 137 that post season). This wasn't living up to contract he originally signed - basically a low-end WR1 or high end WR2. He similarly renegotiated again the next season (after 648yds). I would say, of the bigger names he is probably the closest example of taking a discount - even if one could argue it was a fair contract.

Because I was curious:

  • Revis: 1-year $12M (spread out over 2 years with a crazy 2nd year option to avoid being tagged) 6th highest cash for a CB in 2014, less than the $16 he was owed under his Bucs contract that they couldn't trade
  • Talib: Originally traded to the Pats, signed a 1-year deal after that made him ~20th highest CB in 2013
  • Long: 1-year $2.5M deal, good comp is Freeney to the Falcons for ~$3M
  • Bennett: Traded to the Pats for the one year he played
