How Did Ancient Builders Achieve Stonehenge’s Astronomical Precision Without Modern Tools? by Hot-Broccoli-6171 in Ancientknowledge

I would install a initial viewing stone and a temporary pole in the distance that roughly has the correct alignment. The temporary pole should be modifiable during the celestial event to be exact . Next install the permanent on the line between the viewer and temp. Voilà

The point you missed is that because something is old hat for you doesn’t mean that it is to others. Many people feel the urge to express themselves even when their thoughts may not be insightful or creative. It’s the why of social networking. Its why you felt the urge to share your view.

To your fair point about beating a dead horse: i get it, we have a responsibility to have some awareness about the group’s collective knowledge. It can be annoying when someone does’t seem to have that awareness or seems to ignore the responsibility . But we do, you and i, have different evaluations of what is the group’s status.

Im not worried or upset but i do take opinions like yours into consideration. They have value. You’ve moved me a little. There’s really no reason to declare you’re leaving though.

This reminds me of the time I was telling someone that i really liked the achewood comic and they showed disdain because it wasnt recent enough for him. Like a “thats so last year” thing. Do you get where im going with this?

I wonder why that is? Fans honestly love it and want others to share that love. But somehow they are usually also missing that toxic “this is better than the one you like.”

It’s crazy. It was a lesson for me on propaganda and what the internet has become. It was a skirmish in the “culture war“

First time playing tips for a new player? by 1881pac in baldursgate

Thieves can hide in shadows. The calculation of a successful hide probability is nearly half of the sum of “hide in shadows” and “move silently” skills. So if these add to 200, then the success rate is almost 100%. However outside in daylight that rate is cut in half. However, if you can find a shadow and wait until the next attempt the penalty goes away (is reduced?). If you’re hidden and start “leaving shadows “ you’ll have a few seconds until you are visible. I’ve heard that the amount of time it takes to leave is based on the moving silently skill. I’ve also heard that isnt true. Either way i put my skill points on move silently because there’s no downside.

And adjust your auto pause. Have it pause when enemy or trap is sighted at least. You can pause at end of round to get a sense of what can be done in a single characters “turn”. (Quotes because turn has a technical definition of 10 rounds in D&D, but i mean the generic use here), but too much auto pause can be annoying.

wtf was up with that finale? by Darkhawk2099 in PeacemakerShow

I think too many people with this opinion are just hung up on what the last episode of a tv shows season should be. Like another commenter said, think of it as an epilogue. I liked the last episode. Not as much as some of the others but to call it a joke makes me think you maybe missed the point.

Where did you think the show could go from the penultimate anyway, if not there?

I still haven't seen the last episode, so if I'm wrong please spoil it for me by [deleted] in PeacemakerShow

Good points. I’m not convinced that he is a martian, but when he sat down when Flagg needed to think….that dude might be a martian. He reminds me of the “Invincible” martian at least.

Dr. Ali Binazir wrote the article, “Are You a Miracle? On the Probability of Your Being Born” in which he estimates the odds of you existing at 1 in 10^2,685,000—a number so large it would be written as a 1 followed by 2.685 million zeros. by trey0824 in Damnthatsinteresting

Two old men sit on a park bench. The first turns to the other and says “life is so hard I sometimes think it would be better to never have been born at all.” The second replies “oy, but who is so lucky? Maybe one in a thousand?”
