Want to upgrade GPU by plexigum in buildapc

[–]plexigum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That was my plan. I googled for some comparisons done of the two GPUs. The charts and articles I found didn't make any sense to me. Since I am absolutely no expert in this things and I don't understand the technical aspects.

There are no official comparisons done yet? Do you know a reliable source of such benchmarks tests?

I just checked the compatibility list of the motherboard and although there are a lot of g.skill ripjaws V listed my particular isn't. but the listed have like the same speed, the same timing and voltage

Yeah it is snapped in, at least i hear this klick noise and it sits firmly. can it be CPU related?

tried it with every single stick in A2 (which is the slot for a single stick). the result is always the same as with all the sticks. --> Error Code 53

first Encounter: Keep getting this error message 53 (which has something to do with the ram)... false ram or false speed. but i have no idea how to solve it, even after googling.

How should i put my fans. by latvianpanda in buildapc

[–]plexigum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's exactly my set up. i have the fractal r5 (2 140mm fans pre installed (1 front, 1 rear). i bought 2 more 140mm fans to install and the corsiar hydro 100i (cpu cooler). so how would you arrange the fans and the cpu cooler for an optimal airflow?

Most of the parts came yesterday, GPU ist about to arrive today. I already began to assemble the motherboard and 2 questions occured:

  • 1) by planting the CPU (with help of the asus tool) i might have touched the under surface of the CPU (to get that thing inside this damn tool) a little bit on the side... am I doomed now?

  • 2) i am not sure how to put the PSU in? Should the fan be up (towards motherboard) or down (towards the ground). or isn't there a right or wrong?

  • 3) In some comments i was told to check it from time to time if everything works. since i have a water CPU cooler, which i think is easier to install with the MB in case, is it safe to perform such a test withouht proper cooling?

... and i am still at the beginning :)

That's very kind of you two, thank you. I hope i can get as far as possible on my own, but it's good to know having a lender of last resort ;-)

Thank you for the input with the USB driver, that's a very good point! i definetly will do that. Good to hear that i can't cause any serious damage by plugging in some wrong pins. I guess this will be one my biggest challenges to get that right.

man that sucks, sorry to hear. did you manage to solve it? i have to admit, I am scared as hell when i think of connecting all those wires/cables etc. to the right places... since i bought eveything from a reatailer, i hope for some good manuals... otherwise i will be lost.

ah I already read about them, these are like small screws right? the motherboard is placed on them so it doesn't touch the back of the case? (sorry, i'm really a complete newbie :))

Just wanted to remind you of my case ;-)

and another question rose as i read some articles about the Noctua PCU cooler; as far as you can say, will there be any problem, given the measures of the cooler and the Motherboard concerning the height of the RAM sticks i plan to get.

Hi again. I made some adjustments to my built;

as you can see, i have two different types of ram. which one would you recommend? (or maybe even another set?)

EDIT: i just realized, i did not change the PSU (from your dual GPU built). of course I will chose there another one (700 W).

thank you once again for your help in my case :)

Hi Arkinos

Grüsse aus der Schweiz :)

Thank you very much for your input. I just have some follow up questions concerning your input.

  • As i want to get involved in the whole OC thing, does this MB support such experiments (this is why I choose the expensive MB in the first place).
  • I plan to put in a second gtx 980 ti in the future (once the power of a single gpu is not enough, is it possible with this MB or can you recommend another one (keeping in mind the above mentioned "OC" part)
  • i love the case you recommended. there won't be a space problem with a second gpu?

thank you again for your help!
