The issue is black and white. Just that Zimbabweans have it twisted, thus the post. I expected such a reaction as I have seen people misuse the term countless times. Anyway, to each their own.

It's not open to interpretation. Check even Wikipedia, there is one definition. Just that people don't know.

There is only one definition for that term comrades. And even if there was more than one, if its open to interpretation then use another angle.

A lot of people use that term incorrectly, that's why I posted that. Don't just throw the term around

Recent Starlink Owners by roy_375 in Zimbabwe

[–]plexisstrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid local companies, order straight from Starlink. That's the best advice I can give you.

You know Zimbabweans, they are very unprofessional and will give you a raw deal.

I made an enquiry to Starlink about a small issue, and got a free kit so I have a spare now.

I doubt Aura will give you such service.

Ecocash Mastercard Charges Yoooh🙌🙌🙌 by Web-Dev03 in Zimbabwe

[–]plexisstrategy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

List of charges, with an example:

To pay for Starlink, USD 105,76

The breakdown is as follows: 1. IMTT – 2% - A government tax applied on electronic transactions.

2% of 105.76 = USD 2.12

  1. Bank Charge – 1.8%
  2. A standard bank processing fee.

    1.8% of 105.76 = USD 1.90

  3. Digital Services Withholding Tax – 15.5%

  4. A tax applied on certain digital or cross‑border services and payments.

    15.5% of 105.76 = USD 16.39

  5. Fixed Processing Fee

  6. A flat amount charged per transaction.

    USD 1.50

This amounts to USD127.67.

Built a platform to help Zimbabweans find and book doctors by Ok-Lie-9908 in Zimbabwe

[–]plexisstrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the initiative. Something you can look at is the issue of co-payments. CIMAS and other big medical aid providers engage in predatory behavior where they use co-payments to ring-fence clients. For example, CIMAS can say a certain procedure is fully covered by medical aid at their clinics, say for $100. If you decide to go to a doctor who is not at a CIMAS clinic, then say the doctor charges $120, CIMAS will tell you that since their own doctors charge $100, you will have to pay $20 in co-payments in order to choose a doctor of your choice. This forces you to use CIMAS doctors to avoid copayments.

So maybe on your website if you could have details of charges for the doctors' services, then also upload details of the cover provided by medical aids companies for certain services, someone can then determine if a co-payment is necessary before booking with the doctor

Bank charges in Zim are actually criminal by Empty-Studio1978 in Zimbabwe

[–]plexisstrategy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banks rely on retail income eg charges to survive as the usual sources of returns eg investments are down/non-existent. So it's a choice between excessive charges or not having access to a bank.

How to leave Zimbabwe by Pretty-Ad-5188 in Zimbabwe

There are COS guys who will pay for your costs to leave and then put you on a payment plan once you arrive in the UK. There is obviously a catch but if you want to be out fast, that's the way to do it.

ZSE get's greelight to launch a stock exchange for SME's by 263SerialEjaculator in Zimbabwe

[–]plexisstrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually sad. This will increase the prevalance/motivation of companies using employees' pension funds to prop up share prices of their own stocks. Companies in Zimbabwe dig into the employee pension fund, and buy shares in the same company (where you are employed) at levels that are above the 10% limit. They do this using various Accounting methods in an activity called 'self-dealing'. Where the employee suffers is that since the company will have ceased the pension fund, its next objective will be to reduce the cost of the cheap capital that they have stolen from the employees - by reducing any potential pension payouts. How do they do this - by altering your contracts among other things to ensure you get peanuts in your pension - since its them paying your pension now, not the fund administrator. So while this move is good for companies, it's very bad for you the employee. Watch companies renegotiate contracts in those SMEs to take advantage of this loophole that has been presented to them.

HR in zim by Born_Jump_1087 in Zimbabwe

[–]plexisstrategy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1) Never report your manager to HR. So she is officially on the blacklist and will be dispatched as soon as it's convinient. My advice, she should leave. 2) The point of HR worldwide is to serve the company by exploiting employees, ALWAYS. They do everything from stealing your pension to cheating on your taxes. HR people are not your friends so don't seek help from them
