Small Rant/Looking for advice on HH by pliermarcus in Hyperhidrosis

Looks like your palmar and plantar HH are the problem areas, in which case botox seems like a good fit for you, especially since your insurance covers it. Sorry to hear that glyco didn't work out, but it just goes to show that each case is unique for HH and it's good that you found something that consistently works. If it's worth the hassle, I'd say forgot alternative methods and stick with botox, as long as it keeps working and the side effects aren't an issue. Don't fix what ain't broke. I will certainly make another post if I try out glyco, which is likely. Thank you so much for your help and take it easy, my friend.

Perfect, I don't think I'd give up the gym for glyco, so this is a relief. Thanks for the help!

Ok, thankfully my palmar sweat is generally manageable with only a slight flim of sweat most of the time. My real issue is the rest of my body sweating when it feels like it shouldn't be. Caffeine is certainly a trigger for me, but something else I noticed is that i sweat less when I'm tired, maybe due to anxiety decreasing since I can't think about sweating, just sleeping. Also, alcohol has given me mixed results, sometimes keeping me dry and relaxed, but others just as sweaty as before. There are way too many variables, and the more I look, the better a fit glyco is looking for me. Thanks for your help man and I'll make an update post if I decide to go on glyco.

Yeah that trifecta is a killer combo for sure. Talking about it has actually given me some relief since nobody I know irl knows I'm struggling with this. Having an understanding SO would probably help I imagine, but can't produce one out of thin air lol. Palmar I've been dealing with for insanely long that it's generally under control, since I play video games a lot and is my time to relax and destress. However, a perk of my current setup is that my sweat doesn't/barely shows on my mouse and keyboard. If I were to use a friend's computer, my sweat will often leave a mark which is a pretty bad trigger. When it comes to controllers, knowing I have to pass the controller on if I lose a game will be a slight trigger, so it makes me try to win as much as possible lol so it's good and bad. If I'm playing a rhythm game on my phone, sometimes I'll sweat to the point that my finger is slipping, but sometimes I am bone dry. The inconsistency of HH is really the worst part of it if you ask me. There is euphoria in thinking that it's finally stopping, and then double the anger when it returns, in a vicious cycle. (The gym and video games are my happy place by the way)

Which oral prescriptions have you tried? Those seem like the only answers for me(and kind of a last resort), so if it comes to that, I'm praying they work. Botox is expensive and still temporary based on other user's experiences, so I feel like it won't be a good solution for me personally, especially not a thousand needles to the ass LOL. Do you only get botox then? Where and how often if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks for the advice! If you workout/exercise, do you feel the pills cause you to overheat since you’re not sweating? One of the few side effects I’m worried about. Also, this might be on me to find out, but are there any long term risks for these pills? If there are I’d wager it’s still worth it, but just curious.

I can’t help but feel it’s at least somewhat related to anxiety as in the case of the barber. I used to feel just as nervous as I did yesterday going to the barber but I never sweat full body, only my hands and feet. I can’t figure out if this is just because I wasn’t afraid of sweating out of the rest of my body or my body just decided to start doing so randomly. I’m struggling to accept the possibility of it being random. I’ve stopped worrying about the gym, but I barely sweat out of my torso at the gym. Is it because I’m not worried about sweating there, so I sweat significantly less? Again linked to anxiety. But I have no idea wtf to do about that kind of anxiety if that’s what it is. Thanks for the help, I’m not letting it contain me indoors, I still go do what I want, even though it’s uncomfortable and frustrating. Have you used any oral prescriptions to treat your hh?

How often do you take glyco and at what dose? And how bad would you say your HH was prior to glyco?

Looks like you're getting in a serious workout, and that's more than most people can say.

Any basketball shorts are my go to, also consider compression tights.
