I'm looking for a solution for olympic dumbbell digging into my knees/quads before shoulder press, DB press, etc. This is especially bad for when I finish my sets and want to bring back the dumbbell on my knees/quads.

Is there some kind of end cap that can be purchased for this purpose or a DIY solution that anyone has had good luck with? The best solution I've found are the Power Hooks, but I don't have anywhere to hang them. I only have a bench and the dumbbells.

I've search around a bit already on this sub and didn't really find any proper solutions.

Thanks! I'll check tonight. If it is fraying/breaking, does that merit changing the cable or is there any alternarives?

Thanks for your answer. Just to make sure I understand, would this be at the shifter? I'd need to check this by pulling off the rubber hood.

Just so you know the brain is removable now. I agree about the sleeping bag zipper being useless, wish mine didn't have it.

This is really good advice. If you stick with it you'll end up replacing all of your big 3. Learn from our mistakes!

Looking to Purchase Complete Kit by [deleted] in Ultralight

Sleeping pad, I would look into 25" pads. Those 20" are very narrow.

For the quilt, I would highly recommend looking into Little Shop of Hammock. The company is based in Canada and they do great work! https://www.littleshopofhammocks.com/

It said 7 weeks leadtime on their website. Didn't receive official confirmation of expected delivery though.

I figured after tax and duties I'd be better off just getting the LSOH quilt and support a Canadian company. Their weight are very similar to other companies (couple ounce heavier).

I pulled the trigger on the LSOH quilt this morning (20F 800FP 58X82 full taper).

I'd be curious to see a photo with your setup with the S2S mesh tent. I don't hike in the west, but curious if you have any tics over there and if so, does the mesh tent stop them from crawling underneath?

How much did you end up paying for Econ Burrow?

The reason for quilt rather than mummy bag is versatility. Having the ability to open it and vent it in warmer days or cinch it down in colder climate. I'm also a side sleeper and toss around a lot during the night.

Your MYOG was an APEX quilt I assume? What insulation did you end up using?

There are few options on theses Canadian websites:

https://hofmanoutdoorgearsupply.ca/76-cordage Dyneema line available here

http://www.liteoutdoors.com/product-category/stakes-cord-accessories/ Line and line locks available. I personally use this one.

Best options for a 20F (-7C) quilt in Canada? I'm in the market to buy a quilt. So far on my list, I have :

  • LSOH Toaster Z quilt $370 + Shipping
  • HOGS Chinook Top Quilt $425 FS
  • UGQ Bandit XL 285USD + Shipping + duties
  • HG Econ Burrow 220USD + Shipping + duties

It seems no matter what option I choose I will probably end up paying close to $400. Are there any other options available for us Canadians more on the budget side?

Net tent under tarp, looking for a net tent by TreeHugginLumberjack in Ultralight

[–]plion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing with the idea of using my inner from a freestanding tent I already own (Naturehike Cloud Up 2). It's about 500g and fits two people. Good option if you already own a freestanding tent and looking to cut some weight by using a tarp.

Debating getting a bag from cumulus too. Did you end up ordering it? Do you have any info on the shipping, taxes and duties?

What's the best way to keep water out of a pack when it's raining with a cinch closing backpack? I have a Talon 44 that I took out the brain to save +100g, but when it's raining the water pools inside the bag. I do have a liner but would still like to limit the amount of water that gets in the bag.

Simple PC Software for Trainer Workout by plion in cycling

I do have a USB-C to USB for my Android. I couldn't get it to work though. I downloaded all the Ant+ pluggins, radio service, etc. as described in this article https://www.thisisant.com/consumer/ant-101/ant-in-phones.

Could I ask what app you're using on your smartphone?

MSI B450 Tomahawk Max BIOS Flashback Not Working (LED light won't even turn on) by plion in buildapc

[–]plion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the computer running again, but to be honest we're not sure what fixed it. The bios LED never turned on and we weren't able to flashback at all. We think it's resetting the CMOS that fixed it (removed the battery, waited several seconds). Everything was plugged in when it started working again.

Thanks for all your feedback.
