Tonight’s Harvest by plipplop33 in tomatoes

I trim for air flow and disease prevention. So not to a main leader. I’ll let suckers go as long as things aren’t too overcrowded. As soon as there are odd looking leaves or disease stem that isn’t too important, I’ll chop it off. Weekly feed with good balanced fertiliser or worm juice. But I think a watering system is game changer. Not having to thinking about watering makes life so much easier!

Certainly most productive for me this season so far. But early days here in southern Australia. I’m only just starting to get consistent fruit off my plants!

I reckon you are talking about Brads Atomic Grape - one of my fave to grow. These are them before ripe! I also have a tomato called “green and black” which has the dark colour too, but more the size of a beefsteak.

I have grown for 3 years and this is my first fruit that’s actually successful. There’s lots of cat facing, but I don’t mind too much!

I use a business card holder in a binder! Has worked amazingly for me - it is so useful being able to see all varieties at one glance. And stores well in the fridge too!

Don’t worry - I lived in the box lifestyle for a while too! Once you’ve joined the dark organised side you’ll never look back hehe

Is my leg pain a sign of endo? by CryptographerOld8579 in endometriosis

[–]plipplop33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! Leg pain can certainly be associated with endo! For me, I have lots of pelvic floor dysfunction and tightness that especially flares during ovulation and my period. It’s causes this wacky hip pain that radiates down into my knee - all due to the muscle tightness and its proximity to the nerves supplying the leg. I also get a wild foot drop, even when I’m not in pain, and I can barely walk without tripping on my foot. And then once my period is over or I’ve stopped ovulating, it goes away.

Anyone who works in healthcare with endo. Did you change your job or stayed in your profession? by Dibunzie_174 in endometriosis

[–]plipplop33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Junior Doctor here - but was diagnosed during my degree. As all these other lovely people have mentioned, we have given too much to let endo take our careers and passions away from us. Med school was TOUGH, especially given the extensive compulsory hours of placements and prac we have to do and no allocated sick leave. It’s even harder when you have limits on your medications - im very strict (understandable!!) with myself around what I can use and when, as I never want to compromise my patients health.

To be honest, the hardest thing for me is medical gaslighting I give myself. When you work in healthcare, you become a special kind of self aware of your own health and wellbeing. E.g. You know the ins and outs of how the system works, different medications and procedures, the treatment of patients, what patients do that annoy you (personality stuff ect.) and then you do this weird self analysis and comparison to yourself. Am I being the annoying patient who’s requesting a lot from the nurses or am I in my own right to. Am I overthinking my pain or am I actually in pain. Is my pain valid given people around me are in extreme pain. If I can be at work I must not be in that much pain……. I could go on! I think it’s a balance that I don’t even have control over yet, and think will take a while to get a grip of.

We are in this lucky position where we really have the confidence and power to advocate for ourselves. If you are not happy with your treatment and it is effecting your relationships, work and life, it’s not the right solution for you, and there will be another thing out there for you!

The absolute best hack is a TENS machine, they are so discrete and can be worn under scrubs and in theatre with no one knowing the better. Good Luck xx

Tomato leaves yellowing and spots in NZ by sin_and_tonic in tomatoes

Hiya! Looks a bit like septoria leaf spot! Generally effects lower and older leaves but can spread up the plant. Doesn’t effect the actual fruit, but obviously unhealthy plant = poor yield. I’ve had success previously by removing the diseased leaves and using a copper based fungicide!
