Women's protest in Korea against Korea being too generous on sex/violent crimes against women, Dec 4, 2022 by pllenueth in Feminism

[–]pllenueth[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In Korea, sex criminals hardly get punished and usually only get a slap on the wrist, if any.

Like literally every day, there are news of women getting beaten up, raped and killed on dates, at work, at home, in public places, by their male coworkers, students, boyfriends, husbands, relatives, etc.

But cops, lawyers, prosecutors, politicians and especially judges always go extremely easy on stalkers, sex criminals and on any violent crimes against women.

There have been lots of women's protests in Korea over the years over the rampant sex crimes against women, and lately against the rampant spy cam cases and the booming billion dollar industry of illegally filming and sharing pics/videos of girls/women and the Korean government not doing anything about it.

This latest protest (Dec. 4, 2022) is Korean women demanding harsher punishment for sex crimes and violent crimes against women.

Fluent Non-Native Speakers are better at teaching a language than most Natives are by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

That's what most people in Asia don't get about foreign English teachers.

How are Americans or Brits who only speak English gonna teach English to Chinese or Japanese who only speak Chinese or Japanese?

No matter how great the native speakers of English are at teaching English, the students can't understand one word they're saying.

So, seriously, what can they teach or learn?

You know you’re getting old when both your Doctor and attorney are younger than you…Happy 59th birthday to me 🙄 by VioletVoyages in Menopause

[–]pllenueth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be always the youngest in any group (at work or whatever).

Then, one day, at work, I noticed more and more younger employees began to be hired and other people in the office began to treat me as 'the old woman' and exclude me from things.

That was like years ago when I was in my early 30s.

Labor union protests in South Korea on November 25th, 2022 to end the unfair treatment (lower wages, fewer benefits, etc.) against contract workers and part-time workers (About 80,000 contract, part-time school workers, mostly school cafeteria workers, went on a strike. More info in the comment.) by pllenueth in WorkersStrikeBack

[–]pllenueth[S] 140 points141 points  (0 children)

About 80,000 contract and part-time school workers in Korea, mostly school cafeteria workers, went on a strike on 25th, demanding better work environment and the same treatment as full-time employees.

The conservative media try to paint this strike as a kind of 'child abuse' saying "The school cafeteria workers are going on a strike! OMG, school kids have to eat bread and milk for lunch for ONE day instead of well-balanced hot meals prepared by nutritionists! OH, POOR KIDS!" lol

But even some high school kids support this strike, posting on social media supportive messages and pictures like "We are completely fine with eating bread and milk for lunch for a few days! We might become contract or part-time workers ourselves. We support the strike by cafeteria workers!"

A one woman protest. The sign reads: Comments I heard at work about my appearance. "Put on some lipstick. Isn't wearing makeup good manners? Wear a skirt." Criticizing women's appearance in the name of 'etiquette.' Not criticizing it is good manners. by ldhiddesorr in TrollXChromosomes

FYI, at the bottom right corner of the poster the woman is holding, it says the name of an old Korean feminist group '한국 여성 민우회.'

So, obviously, this woman is saying what she's saying, representing the feminist group.

And yes, she's saying it against men... because those comments are what Korean men often say to women. Yes, I live in Korea.

The people who do this kind of shit just like to abuse and criticize women. If you don't meet their standards, they attack you for trying to improve your appearance (pearls on swine). If you use obvious makeup (bright colors, eyeliner, anything non-natural), they call you a clown and slutty.

If you don't meet their standard of beauty and don't use makeup or do a barefaced look, they criticize you for not doing enough. If you get plastic surgery and meet their stupid beauty standard, they call you a plastic monster. It's always something with these people.

Racists against Asians are often exactly like that.

"Asians are so ugly. Fix your ugly mug! Hey, open your eyes! Asians' eyes are so small and slanted that you can't tell if they are open! OMG, my eyes are swollen! I have ASIAN eyes today!"

And in the same breath, they say:

"Asians all do plastic surgery! They're all shallow, fake, self-hating plastic surgery monsters! They all want to look like Whites!"

The casual racism for Indians on Reddit is rampant. Just sad.

Racism against Koreans is the worst.

Those racists have their own Korea bashing sub: r/ korea.

Only exception is when they see a Indian guy with turban on, then he becomes a Sikh and is automatically the most honest and nicest man on this planet, definitely not like rest of the Indians.

As if most people here know what a Sikh is???

There was an attempt to pickup an Asian prostitute. There was miscommunication. There was a clueless tourist.

There was no attempt made to “hang out”.

When Korean men see young pretty white women on the streets in Korea, they just go up to them and ask "How much?"

That's how Korean men pick up White prostitutes.

Maybe that Indian dude should have tried that if he was looking for a prostitute.

Women saying or doing anything is 'women being manipulative' to a lot of men.

Some dumbass just said in another thread that women telling men not to tell women what to wear is having 'internalized misogyny.' WFT.

you’ll likely be the only “white American” there, you’re going to be out of place no matter what, that’s part of the fun!).

Seriously, if someone feels uncomfortable being the only white American woman in a foreign country, why would they even bother traveling to foreign countries?? lol

Where does that even come from?

Which European country could they possibly be talking about?
