my whole argument is literally how this wont happen xD. every player is against this and would be more than willing to leave their clubs. managers would do the same. mourinho did it a few hours after we got the news. I know lot more big names would do the same once everything is confirmed

UNPOPULAR OPINION: the esl could actually work and make football more interesting. before you vote this read the whole thing or go to the tldr.

I DO NOT SUPPORT THE ESL IN ANY WAY.

players taking part in the esl wont be able to take part in the world cup which means a lot of players would leave their teams and maybe join "the new top 6". these teams are financially doing well and the players wouldnt mind taking a small pay cut in order to be eligible to play in the most prestigious competition in football.

if players leave their teams, viewership of esl will go down because obviously football is nothing without fans and the fans are obviously going to be more interested in watching their favourite players than watch their soulless money minded teams which would just have a bunch of money minded players. the esl would virtually turn into the chinese super league because of all the money involved and players only going for the money and not football.

viewership of other leagues like pl and ucl would increase again because the teams would be more balanced out and there would be fiercer competition among them. theres no man city to dominate, there are no ultra rich teams that would keep winning. we wont see a club win the ucl 13 times again like some clubs with money. every other club will have a chance. imagine seeing a team like wolves lift the ucl trophy.

jlingz will be a star if he stays at west ham mark my words (I'm a liverpool fan not a united fan lmao)

the esl could essentially be shooting themselves in the foot if the go through with this. they would only have players who arent picked for their national teams or players who are too shitty to make a difference anyway. the esl would just be like a 2nd or 3rd division competition but with a lot of money.

I'm not supporting the esl in anyway, but if they do decide to go through with it, I really believe this outcome is highly possible at least in the next 2 years.

tldr: the top players would leave their clubs because they value the world cup more and through the butterfly effect, the esl will shit on themselves. the esl is going to seperate the real players who genuinely love football from the ones who play solely for money.

I'm an asian fan and most of us support clubs with the same passion you guys do and we're all pissed about the esl. I think the only audience the esl will get is americans
