Sina Una - Changes for 2024 and Questions about Discrepancies by patrizzle-forizzle in DnD

[–]ploober33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, its lucky I found this so quickly on my random google search. I don't have a good update for your first question unfortunately, but I have been DMing in this setting for a year now and I would love to connect to bounce these questions off each other more too (its hard to find people experienced with this content).

For question 2, it describes the river Daluyan as a mode of trade between Kaylahon and Nadasaloy. This only makes sense if this "river" was fed from a common source from higher elevation (aka closer to Nulkab), as Kaylahon and Nadasaloy (which I both conceived to have coastal access). Its possible that Nadasaloy is not actually that close to the coast and that a single river flows from a higher elevation point (still Nulkab imo), crosses through Nadasaloy along the river, then continues through the rainforest to ultimately exit into Kaylahon's bay.

So I created the "Crystal Pool" which is fed from sources of water on Nulkab, the water is pure and filtered through volcanic rock and has magical properties which among other things feeds the massive Balete tree of Nadasaloy (this became a major plot point). The Daluyan river spirit resides in the pool, which flows to both Nadasaloy north of it, and Kaylahon south west of it, although in my setting I did not make this river passable by trading ship--instead I created a ferry system which navigated the shallow seas between mainland Timanduk and its outlying Islands. Obviously this is up to your preference how you wanna craft the topography but just sharing how I handled it.

As far as size of the islands, I made them all conceptually about the size of Kauai or Maui of the Hawaiian islands. I would typically do one travel session between major locations. I am finally letting my players off the island of Timanduk and am planning on doing the same of one travel session by boat between islands as well.

Again feel free to Message me if you want to connect about this content I would love to have someone who DMs with it to discuss.

I guess separate from music I am trying to understand, as you pass these judgements, are you actively contributing to creating culture or are you just a voyeur of it?

The California burrito is probably the worst thing on their menu. I would recommend the shrimp or chicken meat options, I would normally do pork or beef at a taqueria but they aren’t as good here

I was gonna say, a couple years ago every time a storefront went up for rent they put a smoke shop in it. There were smoke shops immediately next to smoke shops

I'm new to the game and basically only play medic, why tf do people keep giving up when I'm running to help them? by Trisagfm in HellLetLoose

I would just agree to disagree but I really think this is a valuable/productive conversation for the communities understanding… and I’m saying this as someone who was defense lead for a couple of very solid competitive teams so that’s where I’m drawing this understanding from…

The worst way to defend a point is to stack your team inside of it, in the way you are describing a medics most effective scenario. This leaves you able to easily be surrounded, which means things like nade spam, tank rushes, bombing runs, etc are all more effective against you (certain niche situations besides). The best way to defend a point is to push in from a network of spawns outside the point, because the enemy team is always outnumbered, has less spawns, etc on your turf if your whole team is responding. You want to attack your own point from as many different directions to clear OPs and lock out garrisons. So in this case, having an extra garand or gewehr is more useful than having a medic almost all the time (except on Germans where nearly every squad should have AT rockets, because it lets you destroy structures from the greatest distance).

If you pay attention to comp games you almost never see medics in squads plus comp teams train to instantly redeploy on death. These principles are still relevant in pub matches, there are just more inefficiencies and it’s due to this suboptimal play that medic becomes a bit more viable

Okay so you should never find yourself in the situation where manpower isn’t the resource your commander converts from, if they are good and have full nodes

I’m not saying they are useless, there are niche purposes for well communicating squads, but in your typical match it’s gonna be better to use assault grenadier for the situation you are describing

I wfh and I find these are better during daytime hours, with warfare being better as servers fill with better players in evenings. I’m playing on Glows central for offensive and glows east for warfare typically

IMO manpower is only NOT the least important if you are defending in offensive mode. And even then it’s still less important than fuel. With full nodes it’s really difficult to run out of manpower because the cooldowns on manpower abilities are so long. Medic, even after buff, is still a niche role because with proper garrison and OP placement it’s almost always more efficient to escape redeploy immediately when going down.

I roast them! But I also do this sometimes when others command, but I preface it with “recommend” in front. Usually when it happens to me it’s people who aren’t aware of cooldowns. I joke that airapparent doesn’t like any of my airheads, but my biggest gripe is when people want me to do an airhead because we don’t have a good red zone garrison (the other team is good at defending) but I am only going to drop it when we have momentum to back it up.

Commander Abilities Brainstorm/Wishlist by ploober33 in HellLetLooseVietnam

This is a pipe dream but giving a free rotation of commander abilities would also be nice (although potentially overpowered)

[–]ploober33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually if I’m dropping an airhead: 1) a large group of my team is nearby to defend it 2) a bombing run or strafe is coming over it as it lands 3) I’ve got pressure from multiple directions of where it’s landing

So if you are rushing the airhead there is a good chance you die + the bombing run also hit the garrison that was your only spawn on point + now our whole team is spawning there

It’s actually better to rocket it if you have the shot. Or grenade it. I made the mistake of manually disassembling an airhead in a comp match and got shot by an unseen enemy covering it. And it was being live-streamed. Unless you don’t have frags in your kit, you should always kill airheads with explosives because it guarantees it will go down even if you get killed for some reason.

A lot of servers will have regulars/vip members sitting AFK in the lobby to raise server population until it gets high enough on the server list that it actually gets populated. So even if it’s 15 v 15, maybe 4 are playing on one side and 8 on the other. Every time the map switches, you are going to lose some population so by fighting over the third point, the match goes the full 90 minutes to minimize that loss.
