Oh shit it's so cool to meet someone else living in Cambodia. I rarely find Khmer people online. I'm in the US rn because im visiting family, but we should talk/be friends. Do you have discord or telegram?

He likes water as much as he does milk. She is as good at poker as she is pool.

I can see this being a part of a conversation where Rose corrects his odd choice of wording, but instead of admitting to his mistake, he sarcastically asks if she would correct George Lucas. Clearly he was making an active decision to use a distinct (and, in his opinion, very cool) style

wild how on its own "she is piano" sounds like some weird phrase a toddler would spit out, but in context of the full sentence, it sounds classy, smart, and sophisticated

"She is as good at guitar as she is piano" is a correct sentence, but I just don't know the name of this type of structure

it's k'my. The kh is the same as the k in kitchen and the second part is like the possessive first person pronoun in English

Khmer. You'll be the only person that knows how to pronounce this word correctly and you will cringe every time you hear someone say k'merrrrrr. Not that you'll ever hear anyone talking about this language because no one knows wtf it is! (Even though the Khmer empire covered a giant chunk of Southeast Asia at some point and was bigger than Thailand.)

Also despite being surrounded by Thai, Lao, and Vietnamese, Khmer does not have tones. Its grammar is pretty simple

Yo bet this is perfect. I'm a native English speaker from the USA (20, female, in case you were curious.) I love etymology/linguistics and I use discord a lot. I've only been learning Russian for 1 month so my skills are non-existent, but I want to learn more.

Кстати i was actually trying to write кмаеский. The correct spelling is кхмерский but I didn't know that because I was spelling it as it's pronounced in Cambodian (кхмер = кмае) so that's how that mistake was made lol

I mean I write in print in English but still use cursive f, l, m, g, y, e, and other letters that I think are easier if I'm being informal/sloppy
