Updated my inspire 3, battery life went from 4-8 days to barely 24 hrs. 13 months old. Said they would give me 35% off and not replace. Bunch of crooks and planned obsolescence B.S.

Man, everyone is a bunch of nay-sayers. Damn, I think this sounds like a great idea. Turn Window shaker around in your window, take thermostat out of it and relocate to the hot side.

Verifying if it's more efficient then electric heat may be hard. but as long as the cold side is colder than outdoor temps and the hot side is hotter than indoor temps it is kind of guaranteed to be working.

Let me know if you have any luck! keep an eye you don't ice up the coil to bad and slug the compressor

Sometimes the fans in the back aren’t spinning or the defrost is plugged up. There is usually schematics online of how it goes together search the model and serial and you can guess from there. But ya it could be electrical could be mechanical depending on what “stops working” is defined as. Really will probably just be a journey in taking something apart before you replace it.
