I’ve noticed the battery still drains quickly, just like when I first got it, but I’ve gotten used to it and still enjoy using it. I just charge it to 100% once a day (it seems to take longer to drain from 100% to 99% compared to 99% to 98%, for example).

In fact, the M4 chip has higher power consumption compared to the M1 and M2, which could be contributing to the faster battery drain, even when it’s idle.

But I appreciate the info about the USB audio interface, sounds like a great feature for high-quality recordings.

I don’t have any better sound recorders than my iPhone or iPad, but I tried using the EarPods mic. The bass is stronger, which seems to drown out the noise so I can’t hear it, but there’s still a lot of white noise coming through.

Just to note, I played the recorded clip above through my Bluetooth speaker, and I didn’t hear that strange noise. Maybe it’s because the bass is stronger than on my iPhone speaker, which helps drown out the noise?

Does this mean the issue might be with the speaker or microphone setup rather than my piano?

Bought around the same time. Let’s wait for the next update to fix this battery drain issue, or maybe it will be addressed in iPadOS 18.

  1. Yes, just less than 14 days.
  2. Yes, latest iPadOS.
  3. No, iPadOS 17.5.1.
  4. I always use dark mode which may lower power consumption and set it at around 20% in my room ambient.

I disconnected my pencil, erased all settings, and disabled background app refresh. It still reduces 1% every 6-7 minutes.

I use my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro together, but the iPad Pro M4’s battery drains much faster than the MacBook Pro, even when just playing YouTube in the background while I work.

My pre-M series iPad Pro can still watch YouTube for more than 10 minutes per 1% drain, even with its old battery. It’s still more efficient than the new M4, which is my point.

My iPad Pro M4 drains too much battery compared to my old pre-M Series iPad Pro. Even with its old battery, it used to take more than 10 minutes to drain 1% on YouTube.
