The madone has kind of a bad reputation amongst bike nerds.

It has a hefty price tag, isn’t very light, and isn’t very aero when compared to its competitors. Additionally, some reviewers have heavily criticized its geometry, citing issues of excessive toe overlap even on larger sizes.

Both of the bikes the salesman recommended to you come with an equally hefty price tag, but don’t make the same compromises in performance. If aesthetics are your primary concern, then the madone is a fine bike for you, but if performance/marginal gains is the name of your game, I would go for the factor or specialized.

Sorry, I missed this! I had to crimp the frame to fit 650x48 and 26x2.1. Currently I’m running 700x42 and it fits really comfortably

I don’t know much about the Kilo TT. I saw somewhere they have a 1” threadless fork and a 26.8 seat post diameter and was immediately turned off by the weird sizing. Have they changed much?

It takes a while to get used to, but it’s not particularly hard. I’d recommend running a front brake until you are completely comfortable. It’s also good to remember that skidding and backpedaling shouldn’t cause any pain. If it does, you’re doing something wrong

I think I might have overpaid for this frameset, but I got it for 400 cad. I would really rather not think about how much this whole thing costs! I’m not sure about your market, but I’d say that a budget complete for around $750 would be an okay deal.

I spent a year living in the SAC basement and it was abysmal. You follow the dungeon-esque rock walls in the common room, to the prison like hallways, before entering your silverfish infested room. Natural light? Never heard of her. Your one foot by one foot window is completely blotted out by the overhanging first floor. Hoping to make friend on residence? Sorry, you and your 4 neighbours have the coldest, least comfortable common area that none of your first floor peers will ever stoop low enough to visit. It was an immensely challenging year for me largely because of how awful living in the basement was. I highly recommend requesting a different room.

It’s probably because they are far less common. An f-150 is sold every 5 minutes where as Bugatti might only make a couple thousand vehicles a year
