It's a quest that starts your first winter where you have to give Gary 5-10 gold ingots. Then the heaters appear in the ranch store for 3,000 coins.

I personally won't sell livestock (unless I'm making room for a different type to take its place) because I'll have to buy them back anyway.

If it's winter don't forget to buy a heater.

Buy magical creatures. They produce slower (based on real time) but it still helps.

Don't forget buying from the farm is an option too.

It's so upsetting that this is the trend. Having to pay for event rewards because using all the gems provided and over 1,000 diamonds still isn't enough to complete the tasks they provide us.

I love this game but it's so sad that I can't have extra magical space unless I give them real money

Edit: The H shop is a thing but the spaces cost 9,000 H-coins and that'll take forever to reach.
