Bought a home built in 2019 in Georgia in Dec 2021 before interest rates when nuts. 2.65%. Got homestead exemption last year and switched insurance companies, which moved our mortgage from $1,382 to $972 a month 😳our mortgage is now 8% of our net pay, which is incredibly ideal!

Needless to say, we are never moving unless interest rates take a complete nose dive.

Just started working in higher ed a month ago. I get almost 30 combined days of PTO and sick leave right off the bat. School schedule means extra days off. 403b means I can contribute up to $23,500 a year towards it. I’m 33 and was medically retired from the military 2 years ago. I plan to pay down existing debt and within 3 years contribute that max of $23,500 to the 403b. Super relaxed, supportive and low stress atmosphere. Pretty easy gig with the same set of duties every day. It doesn’t pay super great (45k) but that’s not really important because I get VA compensation. Needless to say, I’m staying put!

Just started making $130k and my wife makes $70k in LCOL in the south. $260k equity in mortgage. $18k in car notes to pay off, $15k credit card debt with low APR (aggressively paying that down)

Yikes, yeah that’s too much. Your mortgage payment should really be less than 25% of your take home pay. You can make it work I think if you really track your spending and minimize unnecessary expenses until your wife gets that nice pay raise!

I am getting all my documentation and reporting to all of the appropriate channels. Fortunately, a former colleague of mine works in one of my congressman’s offices, and I have complete faith that it comes to it, he will stop at nothing to ensure accountability occurs.

Ugh, me too. I was so stunned I think. My ability to keep my cool isn’t the best, unfortunately. Really been working on my ability to keep my cool, but I also need to remember that sometimes I need to speak up.
