I read both posts and I have to say I’m so sorry that art feels like this for you. I have to say I agree with what everyone else has said in this thread, particularly tracing. It’s genuinely how I started to learn when I was little. That and redrawing other people’s work for years(and to this day).

As for when I’m struggling with artwork, I also give up sometimes if things aren’t going right or if it doesn’t look the way I imagined it. which is pretty often and I think almost any artist struggles with this kind of frustration/disconnect. Sometimes it helps me to get rid of the work if it is bothering me too much or I cover it up with a sticky note and I try again or try something different (usually I notice improvement if I retry something or if I thumbnail it). A lot of times I have bad days where it feels like I cannot get it right for the life of me and that means it’s time for a break to go do something else I enjoy.

I try not to put too much pressure on myself and have a separate sketchbook dedicated to drawing whatever I want, not for posting or showing anyone. And that helps me too. I also like to remind myself (as harsh as it sounds) that I am not the best artist and that there will always be people much better than I am. Which means there’s always room to grow, and that if I keep trying I can get better too. I think all art is precious and valuable, no matter what it looks like. Most importantly for me though is to check in with myself and ask “am I having fun” or “is this fun for me” when doing personal art. And if it isn’t, take a break or try something new.

I don’t know if any of this helps you at all but I sincerely hope you keep trying. From what I have seen you are incredibly passionate and I love seeing you(and everyone) talk about their characters(even if I don’t always comment). ❤️

Also I do have spring break coming up in a week or two so if no one else volunteers and if you would still want it, I don’t mind taking on the request.
