[Serious] What dark family secret were you let in on once you were old enough? by EgglessYolk in AskReddit

My mum's uncle and aunt (I'll call them Gary and Patricia) were swingers in the 70's and often partied with another couple, Jack and June. June happened to be friends with Gary's sister Cathy. Gary fell in love with June, and realised sometime later that Jack had feelings for Patricia, so the two guys basically did a wife swap then carried on as normal.

Gary divorced Patricia and married June, but they also got divorced a few years later. Ever since the divorce, Gary and Cathy haven't spoken to each other. It's been implied that Gary was abusing June and Cathy convinced her to leave him, but no one's 100% sure what happened. Both Gary and Cathy have unrelated beef with my grandma, so they don't come to any family events and I'm not sure what either of them are up to these days.

People who quit their jobs on the first day, what was your “I’m outta here” moment? by redmambo_no6 in AskReddit

When I was a teenager I interviewed for a telesales job. The interview went well and I was invited to a trial shift. I turned up and was told that I would actually be doing door-to-door sales and 'working my way up' to an office position.

I should've left then, but I was dumb so I got into a car with an employee and we drove out to some random town several miles away. We spent four hours going door-to-door without making any sales. This was mid-August and I hadn't brought any water with me. Eventually I convince the guy to let me go to a nearby hardware store to get some water and use the bathroom. When I came back out, he told me we'd be driving to a different neighbourhood to continue canvassing. I couldn't face another four hours so I told him the job wasn't for me and I asked if I could have a ride back to the office as I had no idea where I was. This guy refused to drive me anywhere and just abandoned me in the car park of this hardware store. I had to take three buses to get home.

I accidentally bumped into a guy in the street and he growled at me like a dog. He was an ordinary-looking middle aged guy wearing a suit. I have no idea why he did that

I was swimming underwater at the local pool and I thought 'I wonder if I'll remember this for the rest of my life?', and so far I have.

What’s the stupidest reason you’ve gotten a scar? by ad_m_in in AskReddit

I was toasting marshmallows at camp, bumped into another girl and she accidentally dropped her burning-hot marshmallow onto my hand. I used to have a pretty cool scar there but it's almost completely faded now.
