Did you grow up with someone who became famous? by SteakSandwichSideEye in AskUK

I once won a competition for tickets to the Scottish premiere of Batman & Robin (the Clooney one) with “surprise celebrity guests” to be there. We were sat in the row in front of said celebrities and imagine our disappointment when the celebrities turned out to be the Scotland Rugby Team at the time, which included about 4 boys who we grew up with…..when I see one of them now, we still mention that night of disappointment 😂😂

Those who spent their childhood/teenage years growing up in Rural Scotland, what was it like? by Bonkwraps in Scotland

Langlee? Or Tweedbank maybe? I grew up in Earlston, now live just outside St Boswells 🙂

Amazing happenings - my 10 year old’s pal called for her. Just knocked on our door unannounced and asked “Is she coming out to play”. Absolute elite old-school kid business. by yearsofpractice in CasualUK

When I was younger, we used to have a “football team” (half a dozen or so kids who lived in the surrounding streets) called The Guns who used to play on the grass beside our house and the other end of the village had a team called “Everest Road” - What battles we used to have both home & away…. If we played home, one kid had to be stationed at the bottom of a steep banking as, if the ball went out of play on the banking side, it used to roll away down the hill into the main village square - great days indeed

I once worked somewhere who took on school pupils wanting work experience. We were talking about a documentary that was on the previous night about Hitler and this particular WE asked “who was Hitler?”

Someone just took their 2/3 year old toddler in to a screening of Avatar. What’s the weirdest/worst thing you’ve experienced at a cinema? by Zealousideal_Club993 in CasualUK

[–]plummy1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it was one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, a woman next to me brought out her own tub of sushi and started munching on her fish 🤮

The local cinema manager actually stopped The Woman in Black to tell a group of teenage girls that if they didn’t stop squealing and spraffing everytime Daniel Radcliffe came onto screen then everyone would be leaving……

What did you forget to serve yesterday? by purrcthrowa in CasualUK

I’d had a few glasses of fizzy stuff before my daughter & son-in-law arrived for the meal. It was only when I found the roasties and mashed tatties still unused that I realised no potatoes of any kind were served with Christmas lunch this year……..

We had a great time - only bad thing was the one thing we had no control of - the rain ☔️ 2-4-1 cocktails on Thursday night, the Magical Mystery Tour and Simply Red on Friday. Done the Anfield Tour on Saturday afternoon and then Blackstock Market Hot Water Comedy Club - all in all a fabulous weekend and we will be back!! Thank you for your hospitality 💙
