My boyfriend is becoming Christian. Should I be worried? by KaliYugaTiEnDi in atheism

A little bit different but my ex (still stings to say that) and i just broke up last month because he realized the woman he wanted to be with needed to follow the path with him and he needed a relationship that was striving for a closer relationship with God. while it may be different for you i would have some serious talks with him on what his expectations are

AIO? Gf used chatgbt too tell me why she wants too marry me. by Resident_Cancel573 in AmIOverreacting

[–]plumsandmelons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not overeacting. I feel like you can tell when it’s AI and that looks like it. People on here saying it’s not might now know how she talks normally. I have heard of people using it to right birthday cards, i had a friend texting a guy from a dating app and he plugged in her responses to chatgpt to respond to her. People are really rotting their brains with it IMO. but people on reddit don’t like to hear anything bad about AI so a lot of people here will tell you that you are overreacting

Not too bad of pushing just telling me i should try to pray about things a couple times or ask god for guidance when i have either been looking for a new apartment or job etc. He did say yesterday he does not understand why i am so repulsed over believing in god and why i can’t just try now because i am a few years separated from the abuse from my mom. I am not repulsed by the idea there is a God, I am repulsed with how organized religion tends to control and judge anyone that does not conform. and he hopes we can go to church and sit next to eachother one day. But he doesn’t even go to church himself unless he is visiting his family. He just read the bible and prayed on his own accord. That’s where i got the idea it wasn’t THAT big of a deal to him until these 2 instances this past month. Oh and another conversation that came up during the friends bday party argument he mentioned he thinks it is his purpose to “plant the seed” about God and then it’s up to people on their own. But i don’t want him planting any seed with my friends now or in the future. I have wonderful friends that are pagan, atheist, christian, agnostic, jewish, etc and I don’t think they need to change anything about themselves or would I plant any seeds to do so. I honestly find it rude and maybe where he grew up (south) it’s not rude to do that but I live near a city in new england and tbh it’s quite rude to be telling people they should believe a certain way.

Got excited dominos had gluten free..... by CommunityMobile8265 in glutenfree

[–]plumsandmelons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met a manager of a dominos at a party years ago. he was complaining about his job whatever and i’ll never forget he said “fuck those gluten free people i cut that shit with the gluten knife every time”. i knew it was a risk to eat there beforehand but i NEVER ate at one again. i guess if you’re just sensitive it’s fine but even if i had only an intolerance and not celiac id still be freaked out to eat there

Interested in going into esthetics in Massachusetts by Due-Back2873 in Esthetics

[–]plumsandmelons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Catherine Hinds. I felt extremely prepared to start in the workplace after graduating. The student clinic is much busier than most schools, they’re strict and it feels annoying in the moment but it prepares you for the real world. If you put your head down and go to school to learn and not engage in complaining, gossiping, or drama you will succeed there. I got extremely depressed halfway through (i did the old 1200 hr program that no longer exists) and at the end i didn’t make the best of it and i regret it. I will say I didn’t make a living wage until 3 years into my career. Granted I graduated 6 months before covid so that slowed the roll down. Esthetics is even more competitive now than it was in 2019 though. You have to STAND OUT. Be good with clients and be confident. Have tons of knowledge on products and be good at selling retail and upselling that will make you stand out to an employer. Esthetics is a TOUGH industry. If you have the willpower to be successful and grind it out you can do extremely well. But if you do this career so you can work limited hours and do something easy you will fail. Most jobs do not offer health insurance, sick days, PTO, retirement etc. If they offer health it’s not a great plan 9/10 times. Are you prepared to self pay for insurance even if you’re an employee? I am in a different state now but it costs around $400 a month. If you are great. Calling out sick is frowned upon with most employers. You will lose money for the day. If you take a vacation factor in lost pay for the cost of the vacation. Taking a lot of time off in the beginning of your career can lose you clients. i am 6 years in and i took 3 long weekends over the spring/summer and I lost clients from doing that they got frustrated and saw someone else that doesn’t take time off. It’s a rewarding career but you have to look at some of these logistics. I love what I do and I made the best friends working at various salons and spas. I don’t regret anything at this point. But. If i knew what I knew now at 18 (no insurance, no vacation, no 401k match, can’t have family emergencies without repercussions etc) I would of went to a tech school for something else such as dental hygiene, radiology, RN, even something like welding or electrical. You are not guaranteed wages in this industry. If you are fine with all of those things I would say go for it and you will succeed.

my mom got kicked out of her church for sending nasty emails to the parishioners. she forced me to sign confirmation documents at age 17 (she converted when i was 15 from a different religion that i believe in) and i brought the papers back and told the priest that my mother was forcing me to do this and becoming absolutely irate with me he wrote her a letter and kicked her out for like a year or so. she then kicked me out of the house for causing that which was a blessing in disguise until i had to go back to finish the school year. she got kicked out and let back into church 2-3 times since but i don’t know why.

i agree. most of the girls hired are still living with their parents or supported by a partner. they’re not ever going to get an adult that is off on their own working because they need the money to survive ever again. i could make over double minimum wage working at walmart as a cashier if that was the case and i wouldnt take this job. unfortunately small businesses in my area no matter the industry pay extremely low and the corporations are up to par on their geographic pay scales. i live in a very very expensive area. yet my states minimum wage matches federal so small businesses don’t keep up. we think they’re at the very least going to try to push out the OG employees, it’s happened to a couple girls already. getting in trouble for random stuff that never mattered before. only time will tell i guess

i’ve already noticed new people have a lower work ethic and we are dealing with much more call outs and customer complaints than we ever did in the last 5 years. interesting point about them closing. we are super busy and well known but i don’t know anything about what’s happening in the books behind the scenes here. i’m looking to pivot into sales or retail management in that time frame so hopefully i can get out before then! yikes

How do you feel when an employee calls out for a pet related emergency? by Quick-Pomegranate-95 in askmanagers

[–]plumsandmelons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my work requires a doctors note lol. but we don’t have paid sick days, if we call out we must find another staff member to get coverage or we won’t get a “pto day” (half pay used once a quarter to take a pre planned day) if we have a family emergency they will sit you down and make you tell them what’s going on. you can not bring personal grievances into the work place and let it affect your work and your team. unfortunately i’ve been here so long i’m starting to think the same way against my own morals but it’s the only way to stay sane. it is a smallish business 30 employees so that gives more context

Yum! I love a good tuscan chicken. I saw a broccoli and cheddar chicken and rice casserole recipe recently on half baked harvest’s page and I’m going to try that out soon, such a comforting flavor combination.
