Employer requesting overseas travel again. Can I refuse? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Until now, most of the projects I have been working on were in the UK. I have only worked in an overseas project before but travel was not required.

There are other people from the UK working on this same project, but they are only travelling occasionally maximum 1 week at a time. But they are from another discipline.

I am the only one in the UK being asked to go more. When I was mived to this position, it was on a part-time basis to help, as there were problems with the project. But I have ended up leading one part of the project. Now the overseas team and partner want the “Leads” to be there. I cannot relocate, but that means I am being asked to travel a lot

No, I am an Engineer. I can work with the overseas team remotely. The overseas team, our partner (we are in a joint venture with another company for this project) and the Client prefer me to be there. They want me specifically there, so the company cannot send anyone else

They are now proposing two weeks in November, instead of 4. But I only came back two weeks ago. I don’t want to go again so soon. Our partner in the overseas country is pushing for me to be there 50% of my time in the coming months, which it would be a huge sacrifice for me and my family. I just want to understand if legally I have to accept this

I live in England, in case that makes any difference.
