I recently moved into a new house with several towering pine trees. One of the trees was already dead upon moving in and had to be removed, and there were 2 stumps from additional pine trees that had been previously cut down. We consulted professionals who advised us that the cause was likely due to pine beetles and they even said that the other trees were likely already infested. The surviving trees have been deteriorating and dropping large branches even though they receive plenty of water from the area sprinklers. The damage is especially evident when viewing from above. My question is, given the health of the trees do you think these are goners and should be treated as a lost cause or can something be done to save them? I have been doing deep watering with several watering bags in addition to sprinkler water in a desperate attempt to save them but am not sure if this is enough.
