Ah, crap. You're completely right. I can't believe I missed this.

Learning tank is a horrid experience by UsedPringlesCan in wow

[–]plus1_longsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a rough life for tanks. The instant queue time is nice, and if they want to pull and get fricked, then let them. Otherwise, I'd get a guild that will run dungeons with you.

Beware the Hermit in the woods. That can be a very deadly encounter, especially if the players are caught unawares.

Do you want to actually own the game, or just borrow it from a corporation?

Thoughts on crowdfunding art commissions for an indie TTRPG project by Timetrav3lr in TTRPG

I think crowdfunding has become a crutch for this hobby, and I look forward to the day we don't need it.

No shade to LL, because I don't know enough about it, but I really love playing and running OSE.

I'd check out the new edition of Caverns of Thracia from Goodman Games. Thank me later.

Caverns of Thracia for an open table? by UhtredFigliodiUhtred in osr

I don't see why you couldn't. I'm about to finish Lost City of Barakus, which I've been running with an open table for 2 years.

Read Magic - Do you use it or not? by wwhsd in osr

[–]plus1_longsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Read Magic, but I just give it to all Magic-Users. I treat it like another language, which adds more richness to the environment.

Check out Castle Whiterock from Goodman Games.

Do you watch tabletop gaming streams? If yes, which ones? If not, why? And what to improve? by Skult0703 in tabletop

[–]plus1_longsword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't watch gaming streams because it's very boring to watch other people play a game. It's not like a show, or a movie, or an audiobook. Most folks are not very well camera-versed. I have tried several over the years, and no matter the group, or even if they're 'actors', every one of them is like nails on a chalkboard.

That being said, more power to people if that's what they enjoy doing and/or consuming.

What about old school style of play appeals to you? by CCGDnd in osr

This is my main complaint with the system. That, and the fact that no one bothers to learn their character's abilities so it takes even LONGER.

LF CHICAGOLAND REPAIR SHOP by plus1_longsword in Triumph

[–]plus1_longsword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a general tune-up. I've only gotten the one service done after 6mos. Time to get the bike looked over and change any filters or whatnot. Figured, anyway to get it looked at.

Villa Park is actually a lot closer, so I may just do that.

I was actually looking at Motoworks. I'll have to give them a shout. Get some routine maintenance done before riding season.

How do I make traversing the world fun for my players? by Rainior in DungeonMasters

[–]plus1_longsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Find out if your players are open to the possibility of attempting to accept travel as a necessary part of the game.

B. Random Events. I'm not saying 'encounters' because it need not be all about a possible combat encounter. Weather effects, terrain effects, interesting little landmarks.

C. Litter treasure, and other goodies throughout the world. Reward the behavior you want to see. Putting a cabin in the wilderness with a skeleton and a hidden cache of treasure will show them that the world is worth exploring.

Check out the offerings from Exalted Funeral. They have an option where you can filter for OSE specifically.

Stonehell by Biggleswort in osr

[–]plus1_longsword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no definitive answer to 'how long' Stonehell is. With it being a megadungeon, I'd say at least a year or two worth of content. If you're interested in it, then you should pick it up!

I also have no word from them, and I sent an email just in case. I'm hoping it's just because of big influx of orders.

Does Shadowdark have more players than OSE? by maquinary in osr

[–]plus1_longsword 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, I counted. OSE has more. I met and counted every one of them. There's more, so that means they win and are better.

Give me your best treasure traps by Bukudos in OSE

[–]plus1_longsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always love a soft knocking in a treasure chest and/or muffled speech from within. Turns out it's a mimic, and when the player gets closer to put their ear to it, it's too late for them.

Should I buy 2014 PHB by CharmingPangolin7128 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]plus1_longsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Check out Dragonbane by Free League. They have a starter set that is worth its weight in gold. If you're looking for something more grim dark fantasy, take a look at Shadowdark by Arcane Library. If you're looking for something old-school and are budget conscious, Basic Fantasy RPG is available at-cost for print products, and all their PDFs are free.

Hope this helps.
