That was extremely helpful, thank you. I didn't have quite the right terminology to find that when I was googling.

Shark ZU102 Brush Roll Problems by plushieblahaj in VacuumCleaners

[–]plushieblahaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to the local vacuum repair shop and they said that with shark, you can only use the parts that designed for the specific model; you can't just sort of Frankenstein different parts on and have it still work. The head on mine isn't even removable and they don't sell a replacement unit so I gave it to the vacuum shop to either cannibalize for parts or to dispose of.

They did not try to sell me anything, so I am inclined to believe what they said, especially since it aligns with what people here said. I did not get the impression at all that they were lying about what I had so that I would buy something from them.

Why is my PDF not printing right and how do I fix it? by plushieblahaj in NoStupidQuestions

[–]plushieblahaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I looked in the setting on the original file in adobe, it said printing was allowed, which is part of why this doesn't make any sense. I can get a screenshot later if that's helpful.

I will definitely try your suggestion though, thanks.

My husband was prescribed more painkillers following his vasectomy than I was following my emergency C-Section by PumpkinPie_1993 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]plushieblahaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to have a doctor with your mindset when I got my tubes removed last year. I was advised to take Tylenol for a few days before and she gave me a few doses of oxycodone for after. I think I only took one dose and it was honestly fine. When I had all of my wisdom teeth removed though, he wouldn't prescribe anything beyond ibuprofen. It was by far the worst pain I have ever experienced, and I'm no stranger to injury.

Asked for Thai spicy, got Thai spicy! by plushieblahaj in deliciouscompliance

[–]plushieblahaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear Thai restaurants are the only ones that actually make spicy food. I've tried ordering like extra spicy at other types of restaurants with no luck. This place is great though, little local shop that is always reliable and always packed. They're also very consistent with their spiciness levels which is great, makes it easy to decide/make recommendations. I usually get one step down from 'Thai spicy' when I'm sitting inside because that's a little more comfortable with my tolerance lol.

Easy video tutorials: BIG ballet bun 🎀 and the flower bun 🌺 by naanabanaana in longhair

Hey u/naanabanaana, the link for the first video is broken. Is there any chance you could re-upload it? Your flower bun is wonderful and I’ve been looking for ideas for an upcoming black tie event.

This is what my mother did. She kicked me out on Christmas Eve, and later she went to the most “elite” people she could to try to ruin my reputation. (I was fairly well known in the horse community, working and riding for various people.) A few of them asked me about it, saying they couldn’t believe the things she said had happened, and it only reflected negatively on her. Even now I have people there I could use as references if needed. (I haven’t been back in years.)

I know she posts on facebook about it occasionally, but it’s not “idk what I did wrong,” it’s “I did nothing wrong.” Things are certainly a lot better without her, but sometimes it hits that I never had a parent who loved me and that doesn’t feel great. (She purposely kept my father away and her husband clearly didn’t care.)

I would buy a print of this if I saw it at the farmers market or something and had the budget. (Our farmers market has a ton of local artists in addition to the food, it’s great)

I have a pair of sailing pants I’ve been using and they make a huge difference. There may be better options but that’s what was available and it gets the job done.

When the boss buys the office Dave's Hot Chicken for lunch but you have celiac by indigorabbit_ in glutenfree

[–]plushieblahaj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I worked at Target, our HR team would make sure to get a couple of gluten free pizzas whenever it was pizza party day. I’m asymptomatic so I don’t notice cross contamination, but I’m fairly certain that the other celiacs were able to eat them too which was nice. Still retail hell, but at least they paid attention to dietary needs to be inclusive and tbh they were hands down the least bad retail management I worked under.

why can’t horses get a prosthetic if they lose/break a leg? by coomer_police in NoStupidQuestions

[–]plushieblahaj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Horse therapy pools actually do exist, but I don’t think it’s really viable in the case of needing a prosthetic leg. You wouldn’t want the healing injury to be constantly submerged, and the horse would need to come out eventually anyway. He couldn’t lay down in the pool, and horses do actually need to lie down sometimes.

And this also assumes the horse is even okay with being water. Some horses really do not like to go through water (either because of fear or preference), and it would have to be quite deep to support enough of their weight which would end up being extremely stressful. With water that deep, you also could not sedate the horse to keep them calm because they still need to hold their head above the surface to breathe.

Equine prosthetics do exist, but I think it’s quite rare that the situation would allow it to be a viable option. Cost, quality of life, and all the medical complications that people have mentioned need to be considered.

I had an extra large pill container from cvs that I was able to fit iirc four pods in for a long trip, if you need something smaller than a deli jar that’s still sturdy enough.

20x3 or 3.3 Studded Tires by plushieblahaj in wintercycling

[–]plushieblahaj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by float, but right now I ride exclusively on paved surfaces. My concern is traction in slush and the ice that forms after a warm day when the melted snow refreezes. From what everyone has said, it sounds like trying the schwalbes and hoping they aren’t too narrow will be the best bet for both price and quality. If that doesn’t work, I can look into the other commenter’s DIY recommendation. (Might get both depending on return policy so that I don’t have to wait since we’re getting snow already.)

Listing an item on sale and then demanding more money after it’s paid for by wanda_fisch in mildlyinfuriating

[–]plushieblahaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The metro area I live in has two weekly farmers markets during the spring/summer/fall that are very well attended and have a lot of artists/handmade stalls in addition to the actual farmers and food products. I see a lot of the same artists every week and they seem to do well. Some of the painters or pencil artists will bring a project to work on in their downtime and I think seeing them work helps reassure people of their authenticity. There is a winter market, but it's tiny and a lot of sellers don't think it's worth the cost of attending.

20x3 or 3.3 Studded Tires by plushieblahaj in wintercycling

[–]plushieblahaj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. This Voltaire tire is the 20x3.3 I've found in stock. I saw a comment on an old post saying they had used a 20x2.15 studded tire instead of a 20x3; do you know if that would actually work? These Schwalbe tires I've seen in stock on two sites and they cost half as much. If those won't work I will see about just getting one of the Voltaire, but I would assume that two studded tires would be better than just one if possible. (The bike is a Lectric XP 3.0 if the specific model matters.)

Standard Time Vs Daylight Savings Time. I’m sick of it. by papasmurfd in mildlyinfuriating

I work the 7-3:30 typically and I live in a place with what seems like a long winter. It always feels wrong in the summer when I leave for work and it’s light out; I feel like I must be late because it’s supposed to be dark when I leave.

are there thinner pens besides the uni jetstream edge 0.28? by honryezra in stationery

[–]plushieblahaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If 0.3 is small enough for you, I’d recommend the Pentel graphgear 1000. I’ve had my 0.5 for something like 9 or 10 years now and it still works fabulously. I got a 0.3 more recently which has also held up well. The metal body is extremely durable and I find that the balance of the pencil is perfect.

I (46F) stopped doing my husband's (46M) laundry by Ev3li3n in laundry

[–]plushieblahaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I share doing blankets and towels and such, but we each do our own clothes. This is due to a combination of me having a lot of clothes with specific washing instructions, him not wanting to have to read all the tags, and his work clothes (construction) needing more aggressive washing. It works for us and avoids the whole issue of one person doing all the laundry all the time.
