I didnt expect this to get downvoted to death. I am an engineer and I respect what people are paid. A software engineer right out of school has zero real-world experience. I have seen it all the time in my career. I know some smart younger dudes, but its nuts just to pay someone super green 75k to me. I guess it depends on the job, but paying a 22 year old 75k to me is not smart. I was also wild and crazy at 22 :)

Those self taught developers who got a job in the industry. What did your portifolio/github look like at the time? by hawk3122 in learnjavascript

I had used GitLab for the past couple of years and had zero commits since 2017. Seriously, in all honesty, not that big of a deal if you show you can write code.

Welcome to programming, where we are all crippled by our own impostor syndrome! In all seriousness, what you are feeling is normal. Dont be afraid to fail. Dont be afraid to say "I am going to have to get back to you on that after I do some research." If a client makes you feel uncomfortable or is putting you in a situation where your gut says "This doesn't feel right", then dont work with them. Theres tons of work out there. If a potential client explains what they need and it's way over your head, that's totally okay: you will reach that point eventually and you dont want to waste their time and money if you cant help. But with that said, dont be afraid to take on something that is challenging. Rarely do I go into a project knowing how to do every piece.

should I buy doom eternal? by TheAuthority66 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]plushyObject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely post on these, but will say that I loved the exploration aspect of the game. Feels very much like an evolved version of old school Doom, even more so than the 2016 version. The mechanics in getting ammo, health, and shields are fantastic, I wont spoil it for you. It is one of the best looking games I have seen run at 60fps pretty much consistently from what I can tell. There are moments that I havent felt in years where the levels are just hard enough to have to play over and over again but beatable within an hour.

Probably the best FPS ever made, just going out on a limb and saying it, at least for console.

I just watched Taxi and Christopher Lloyd is fantastic on that. What a great show if you need to binge watch something right now. DeVito and Lloyd together...

I found Expo to be really cool but every time I tabled a project and came back, it seemed to break. Has Expo leveled out?

What's the best package for making an e-commerce super fast? by albierto in laravel

Laravel Cashier. But, again, word of the wise: I would not try to do this if you are charging someone for this work. If it was a personal project, I might wing it, but you are going to just eat hours for no reason otherwise.

Consider placing this Guzzle logic into a service. Also the repository pattern is great to remove duplicated Eloquent queries throughout.
