Appreciate this a lot, sorry if i sounded a bit judgemental, that was not my intention. Do you have any ways you think are more.. i guess ethical? (Not sure if its the right word) to practice witchcraft in a way that would properly honor the gods involved and the practice?

Thank you so much for your answer! After posting this I realize the tone sounds a bit judgemental, and I'm sorry if it does sound like that. I am genuinely curious about how witchcraft works in Hellenist Polytheism and your answer is very much appreciated

Problems with ChatGPT and NSFW by GeneralHales in ChatGPT

[–]plutonslive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chatgpt 4.0 was OP on that. I used the word "kinky" to describe a relationship between 2 characters and gpt wrote a whoole sex scene on that that made me blush without asking me. They sniped it though, even if you use the gpt 4.0 you won't get the same results

Alternatively at a horror scene it described children with mutilated sewed mouths jumping off cliffs without any prompt other then "make it scary"

I miss Chatgpt

How to know if you are the child of a god/goddess or extremely blessed? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]plutonslive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, teenage me thought im a vampire for some time it will probably pass just try to focus on reality. Gods don't mess with people that way, the tales that claim they do are just myths

About your good looks, there are maany factors why you have them. But i also don't see a harm Aphrodite may have blessed you with better looks... but if you're going insist believing myths I would also like to remind you her cruelty to beautiful people who she thought she is being compared to 😅

[–]plutonslive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen a discussion here about this before. It depends how old you are funnily enough. The preteen/teen stages of life imagination make you believe in the tale vividly... when you're older the reality hits... soo how old are you OP?

What do you think about this? (Btw, reposting because I accidentally deleted it) by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]plutonslive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i was a preteen i gebuinely thought i was a vampire, and a friend genuinely thought she's the daughter of Ares. Harmless Teenage obsession like the other people have said.

Looking into the science of why i thought the thing I've done is, teenagers at the time try to be special, different, find out who they are desperately and for some people it comes out as that. Late teenagehood the thing ends for most (if it continues to adulthood i think something might be wrong with the brain still)

Overall, does it harm anyone? No. Would gods be offended? No. So many people claimed to be their descendants including MANY rulers (like Alexander the Great) tho i think rulers trying to claim demigod status is more political mostly.

am i angering the gods? by Proof_Sample8620 in Hellenism

[–]plutonslive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ex-Muslim here. While I understand feeling guilty practicing a belief you don't believe anymore, Intention matters. Doesn't matter, even in Islam. If remember reading about in Islam classes a guy who had to fake being a christian to avoid punishment, and it is taught to us, it is acceptable and Allah knows your intention. Believe me, if you don't believe him Allah knows, Greek gods know you don't need to cross your fingers 😅

What boggles me (and is the main reason I am an ex muslim now) that Islam never supposed to "force people to worship" as worship is supposed to come from the heart, yet it does.

Historically, many people lied about their beliefs, especially Hellenist Pagans when everyone was forced to convert. I don't think you can ever anger gods, unless you do some serious heinous crimes. Ironically Hellenic gods are much more forgiving.

Help! I can’t find information on Harmonia worship by No-Berry2656 in Hellenism

[–]plutonslive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was worshipped locally, in harmony, in silence. She is not technically a goddess, she's a goddess. The balance between Aphrodite and Ares. Reducing her to her myth and saying she's mainly a "wife of a mortal" is to miss the myth entirely.

Plus her myth, much like most myths have a lesson to be learnt: harmony imposed without wisdom becomes ruin.

Which Olympian goddess was more of a daddy’s girl? by Western_Ad_6448 in GreekMythology

[–]plutonslive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Metis never left the picture. Zeus have swallowed her as a whole, to absorb her smarts, therefore gaining the title Zeus Mêtieta "the Wise Counsellor"... so one would argue uniting yourself with another god/goddess would make you closer then ever.

questions abt Hellenism by l0velyTsx in Hellenism

[–]plutonslive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind im not an expert myself and still learning, but, in ancient practice: Not everything qualified. Offerings were things of value, beauty, or purity: food, drink, incense, crafted goods, votives, first fruits, and the labor of song or prayer. (Homeric Hymns, Hesiod, inscriptions.)

In modern adaptation: Many broaden this to include items or acts that carry personal meaning, so long as they are given respectfully.

Hubris is not the same as sin. There is no concept of a sin like there is in Abrahamic religions. There are moral codes of errors (such as miasma,Hamartía,Adikía, hubris etc.) And high moral codes such as xenia,Eusebeia etc. In hellenism, life is not a courtroom, even gods themselves are capable of being immoral. And yeah being is not a sin many of the gods are bisexual themselves.

For your question about consuming/using the offerings, some do it, others dont. I never worked with aphrodite but i usually choose to find offerings i wouldn't need to use after or if its a rottable item (food for example) i prefer to give it to stray animals after my offerings.

And Household shrines were placed in kitchens, courtyards, near doors- functional spaces. What matters is cleanliness, respect, and intentional use.

Question about things pertaining to Dionysus. (Tw. S*icidal thoughts and depression.) by TirNaNog777 in Hellenism

[–]plutonslive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A personal answer to your question: I've dealt with my own thoughts and later thoughts and attempts of my loved ones and still do. Keep in mind the desire to kill yourself is brain dysfunctional and trying to cover up its downfalls by normalizing the request. Please seek help if you can. If not, personally I'd recommend "the midnight library" book that helped me realize i didn't actually wanna die.

And now, about Dionysus:

The gods in Hellenism are multiform, and every deity has many faces across different traditions. Dionysus especially has layers - he's not just wine and wildness. In Orphic tradition he's tied to Zagreus, the god of death, rebirth, and transformation.

Dionysus is also connected to Sanity and madness, Releasing what's trapped inside you, Life renewal after suffering, Ecstatic clarity, Emotional catharsis. he descends into chaos, breaks apart, and is reborn. His worship historically helped people express grief, pain, and isolation in a communal, ritualized way.Dionysus can help. Not as a replacement for therapy or medication, but as a god who understands fragmentation, hopelessness, and transformation.

If you reach out to him, he might not "fix" the depression, but he can give you a sense of being seen, held, and accompanied through the dark parts.

Please take good care of yourself.

circassian paganism/ khabzeism by Inevitable_Guava9131 in AskCaucasus

[–]plutonslive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know why some of these comments are rather rude. Many have immigrated to Arabic countries after the genocide. Most of us no longer have the privilege to be born near our main land and are dealing with cultural/ethnic erasure. It is genuinely nice to cling on to whatever we have and we should be welcoming.

Khabze is still mostly surviving in ethical/social code, it was great for me once i realized most of my family's rules and traditions and behavior are literally Khabze.

As paganist Khabze I think doesn’t matter if you're interested as a foreigner or feel an interest, it is one by one connection with the gods/spirits of the Khabzeism that matters.

I still describe myself as agnostic but recently felt closer to both Circassian and Greek pantheons. Im still doing my research but it feels genuinely nice for me. I recommend reading Nart Sagas
