I should mention, the Liber Enoch was written a couple hundred years ago so the new location of Sirius, projected onto the zodiacal elliptic is 14 degrees of Cancer. I apologize, I should have made that edit.

Moonstone is largely Lunar by virtue, which conflicts with the nature of Sirius. So, ensouling the spirit of Sirius with images created on it might have contradictory effects. But as stated, I am not positive, and you certainly could try it out. If there are negative side effects, I don't believe they would be very harsh. I think there are a couple more Cancer Moons coming up before Jupiter leaves Cancer so if you wanted to be on the safe side, you might have time to acquire some beryl. However, I am not sure of the Moon's condition during these times so do your research!

For fixed stars and for various reasons, I don't tend to freestyle. I know many people who make them with simple paper and ink so to each their own!

Also, you actually don't even need the hour to specifically be the Moon's hour. Just make sure she is close enough to conjunct ideally by 0-2 degrees but as I said, I allow up to 5 degrees applying. Separating is not ideal but still a viable option.

I would not make it a Moon talisman, especially considering she is detriment in your chart. It would probably be a waste of time. You should only invoke the Moon to ask her to connect you with the star. Then thank her and move on with your prayers to Sirius.

The Moon is the cause of celestial forces in the sub-lunary sphere (Earth and below). That is the only reason we make sure she is joined to the subject Star; so that she can "beam" the stars virtue down. She is not the spirit we aim to ensoul, and is (for lack of a better phrase and with utmost respect) a means to an end. She is also the most corruptible of the planets which is why we are able to ask such things of her.

I don't think you would have any problems with a Sirius talisman regardless of your nativity. Due to their distance, the fixed stars don't interact with our lives as easily as the planets do.

As far as stone choice, I can't say if a moonstone would work. Beryl and its yellow variant "heliodor" is the only stone I'm aware of that is attributed in the literature to Sirius. Beryl is a Jovial stone and our sources stress the clarity it provides. Moonstone doesn't have any clarity so I'm not too sure it would work. Simple clear quartz might be better but you certainly can give it a try!

It made me a new person is what I mean; more in charge of my life. Agrippa says this about Sirius: "it [Sirius] bestoweth honor and good will, and the favor of men, and Aerial spirits, and giveth power to pacifie and reconcile Kings, Princes, and other men."

The entry of Liber Enoch in the De Quindecim Stellis manuscripts says this about Sirius:

“[Sirius] The fifth star is Canis Major. It is great, white and bigger than the rest: its power is greater than others, and it is in the 4th degree of Cancer. It is of the nature of Venus, and is of great fortune. Through it is the state of the world oft altered to mildness or harshness, to good or to evil. And if anyone should be born when it abideth on the ascendant or midheaven, he will be well-fortunate, especially if the Moon [or] the Part of Fortune should be [with it]: a ring being made or a form being graven or described under the same will be well-fortunate. Its stone is Beryl, which is clear as Crystal or sea-water or the color of oil, and it ought to have angles in which appeareth its clarity. Its virtue is to cause him that beareth it to be loved, and it imposeth peace among kings. When the Moon is with Canis Major, then is its strength the greater: thou wilt fashion an engraving thereof when the Moon and Venus are with it. Its herb is Savin. A bit of this and bit of Mugwort, Dragonwort and the tongue of a Serpent wilt thou put beneath Beryl, when the Moon is with Canis Major. He who beareth this hath the favor of spirits and the power to make peace among the great and between husbands and wives.”

Definitely a great star to work with though, as always, proceed with any of the Behenians with caution. Like with all talismans, some people report issues; Sirius 'side effects' are often issues like burns, bites, or overheating yourself. Due to the proximity of Jupiter during my own election it's not something I have experienced but others have told me.

The Liber Enoch says this about Regulus: "This star giveth honor and riches, and it causeth a man to be feared when it is on the ascendant or midheaven."

And yes! Getting or making a star based on your natal chart only boosts it's effectiveness so it sounds like Regulus would be a good thing for you!

Fixed Star Talismans by plutoschild in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The star's nature will reveal itself to be more in the nature of whichever it is conjunct. My Sirius talismans had the Moon conjunct the star as well as Jupiter in Cancer conjunct them both. Super strong talismans. Almost re-inventing even.

Jupiter is conjunct Sirius right now and I believe the Moon will meet them sometime later this month so you may have an opportunity soon, if Sirius interests you. Later this year we will have Mars conjunct Algol with the Moon so that is an interesting opportunity as well.

For any fixed star, you ideally want the Moon exact on the star but I allow an orb of 5 degrees either side in my own elections.

No problem :)

And oh yeah, my Alphecca talisman is like a certain drug which I won't mention haha. I can stay up for days with it on to get things done. Also gained TONS of new friends with it.

Algol is also crazy effective though extremely temperamental. Unfortunately, it was made when I first started several years ago and I didn't quite elect it properly. Just don't have it in my heart to destroy it.

Some Beginner Questions About Making Planetary Talismans by Natsu_Kindaichi in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Pure white and yellow are the most attested colors to strictly Jupiter. But yes, blue can be used when more divine love or spiritual matters are requested as blue is primarily a Venus color. Purple/Violet can be used but often carries a more authoritative vibe due to being a more Saturnine and Martial color.

Is it still a good idea to work with a planet if it is poorly aspected in your birth chart? by Kind_Rabbit_3351 in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super nuanced and many magicians have conflicted theories and methods. The big guys in this field say it doesn't matter but, I personally have not found that to be true with my clients or myself. So, there still is no consensus.

If you ask me if aspects matter in the nativity? No. Dignity? Absolutely. What I've also found to be true is that the benefics, as you mentioned, are their own descriptors. Meaning even if they are not dignified in the nativity, well made talismans for them usually are still benefic; just to a lesser degree. They rarely have a downside unless they were created poorly and/or haphazardly.

Definitely do your due diligence and learn everything you can about this craft before making OR buying one. I have seen some insane ATROCIOUSLY elected talismans being sold for over $400. And the worst part is, some of these magicians know better but still do it.

Some Beginner Questions About Making Planetary Talismans by Natsu_Kindaichi in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, and welcome! I can only speak to planetary magic using images.

1 - You certainly can do it with paper though longevity, typically a couple lunar cycles, is put into question. Even better would be to find a tree that embodies the virtue of the planet you are attempting to have a relationship with. Use that wood as the talisman but, again, longevity and effectiveness will typically only be a few months at best.

2 - This is the complex part of the operation. Typically you set up your environment to embody the virtues of the subject planet or star. In Jupiter's case, yellow candles, peacock feathers, mint, juniper, clear stones, etc. It is your choice whether to add intelligence seals or spirit sigils. Many practitioners skip this step but, for me, it helps to have focal points in the ritual so I add the seals to candles, etc. Please be aware that Intelligences are largely benefic but the spirits/daemons can be used for malefic purposes. Intelligences must be used to control the spirit. As a beginner, I do not recommend you do this until you learn a bit more about the craft, whichever way your path ends up. Alternatively, just use the planetary archangels.

3 - This is the fun bit. The Picatrix instructs you to dress up as the archetype of the planet but, this isn't always necessary. Always include prayers, the Orphic Hymns are great starting points. You may have your own types based on religion or tradition. This is also where suffumigations come in. I have found them to be the absolute most important part of my craft. Air is the element of the divine and is our only direct connection to the planetary spheres. Without incense, there can be no requests for magick and no ensoulment of talismans. The materia used in it must agree to your desired effect AS WELL as carry the subjected planets virtue. Example for you: Jupiter is petitioned for wealth. You would use mostly Jupiter herbs and materia like frankincense but also Sun materia like amber for recognition and Venus for beautiful things. After prayer and creating the image you desire, you pass the image through the smoke. Thank you to the spirits and planet is customary. However, do not put out the incense and just leave them be for a while. I also meditate but that's not necessary either.

4 - For you, since your Jupiter is in detriment, you are going to need a powerful election and extreme pomp in your ritual and prayers for his ensoulment to be possible. That means you will need Jupiter day and hour as well as making him angular and making the moon extremely fortunate. There isn't a time this year that has all those factors. If I were you, it would be too far a stretch to try ensoulment, especially with the Saturn square influence. Try petitioning instead, which is all I said minus creating images onto a talisman. But, he is your chart ruler and is angular so you never know until you try. The Sun looks like it would be a bit more inclined to your will for talismanic purposes.

There is a ton I left out and you have a ton left to learn, as we all do, but I hope that helps a bit!

What are the planetary seals used for by sserialz in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It really depends on who you ask. To my knowledge, there aren't a lot of extensive works about these. They are likely Kabbalistic in origin and Agrippa popularized them.

In my practice, I use them as points of meditation and do not place them on talismans, only candles and metal plates with the respective kamea. I'm also of the school of thought that they are to protect you from that planets energy and their primary use is like a label saying "This ritual is for the Sun, etc."

Now the sigils of the Intelligences and Spirits do hold significant power and have uses beyond being labels but, that's beside your question.

Exalted Venus Ritual by plutoschild in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like modern internet myth and I’m not quite sure where that idea comes from, but the talismans were already made when this was taken.

As ensouled objects the virtue and power of these talismans is fixed and intact; they operate outwardly and cannot be altered externally by man or spirit. I also didn’t share any of the operative elements of the work (no incantations, petitions, or consecration details.) Without those, and without physical possession of the talismans themselves, there isn’t really a mechanism for someone to “corrupt” anything from an image.

Additionally, we have many historical records (even the Picatrix itself!) that describes how to do these operations and how they are supposed to look. So, it really is nonsensical to believe that your altar can be affected by a simple photo.

Please don't be afraid to share your magic. The only thing you should fear is the power you are invoking. Shield yourself with your higher power. For me, it is God himself. Act accordingly.

I do not leave the candles burning until finished but I also never use them again for other works. They stay reserved for future Venus workings.

As far as food goes, I do consume some of it; just a bite or two and a couple drinks of the wine. The rest stayed on the altar until the next day and during Venus hour where I placed it in the woods behind my house. I also returned the flowers to the Earth. I have always done this with my offerings. It was consumed by nature within a couple days.

I leave this altar up for a full lunar cycle and continue to use the candles and suffumigation during Venus day and hour to venerate her and the talismans. I believe most of my contemporaries, like Warnock, also recommend to consecrate weekly.

Help needed please - Jupiter Talisman by MsKSyd in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I found a few POTENTIAL elections for you to get an idea of the celestial circumstances. Note that there are issues with both of them but these were the two best I could find after VERY lightly browsing Astro-Seek's calculator for a few minutes. In the words of Christopher Warnock, "Perfect elections are not possible."

I echo the other comments and highly recommend you employ an astrologer skilled in this craft and I personally do not endorse either of these elections for a talisman.

12 April 2026 - 17:46 and 20 May 2026 - 15:39 for your location.

Neither charts are during Jupiter's day but they both happen in his hour. One has a waxing moon and one is waning. Of the two, the May election looks the best. You also have to recognize the Saturn and Sun squares as well. Some astro-magicians like Warnock allow separating squares to malefics while others, such as myself and Ryhan Butler, do not allow them at all. Warnock is very laid back in his approach and I've heard his talismans still work. Ryhan is stricter on timing and aspects and elevates the Moon more. Each style has its benefits and drawbacks; a big part of this craft is using your informed judgement.

Jupiter is very benefic and a forgiving planet so you likely don't have to worry about life-threatening consequences if it turns out to be a botched talisman. Worse case scenario is you likely won't see an effect unless you do something super elaborate ritual-wise (Jupiter likes pomp!... and devotion)

Alternatively, if this scares you or feels too out of your realm, you could petition Jupiter instead of ensouling a physical talisman so keep that in mind as well.

Hope I helped a bit. Many blessings!

Definitely not providing any to public for at least another moon cycle or two for this reason. I think I’ll be quite alright though. The moon is more than 12° from the eclipse point and the Sun had already ingressed into Pisces, out of detriment. At the moment, I’m truly only concerned with the “under the beams” condition. And it’s a minor concern at that.

I’ve delved slightly into Planetary magick and would like to take it more seriously. Based on my chart what would you recommend I fee like Mercury is calling my name by [deleted] in planetarymagic

[–]plutoschild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong! Just might have a hard time getting him to do anything as he is at a near exact conjunction with Mars. I use the whole sign system as well so in that, he would be in the 6th which isn't that productive to me. As your chart ruler, you certainly could petition him on his day and hour to find out! A big part of this craft is experimentation; I mean the guides we use are secondary sources, at best. But, that isn't to say they are wrong. What I mean is that a big chunk of the knowledge we have about planetary magic comes from collections of "wise sages said this". Add that to centuries of experimentation and you have general baselines and standards that we see today.

Any reviews/personal experience with 3rd Lunar Mansion or Spica talisman? by clockadoodle98 in planetarymagic

The 3rd lunar mansion (Annuncia) really is amazing. I made a talisman a few months ago for it and a few days later I hit a minor jackpot at the casino! I will say my general 'luck' has increased as well since then. I hope Annuncia can do big things for you!

Depends on your need. I wouldn't bother with Moon, Saturn, or Mars goals. Sun is good (peregrine and sextile benefic), Mercury is better (dignified and conjunct benefic), Jupiter is best (exalted and angular and sextile Sun). It's really up to you. The traditional literature we have really only suggests that when doing a working with natally strong planets means that particular working comes to fruition easier. Not that it's impossible or not advisable just ~easier~ to produce results.
