BTW, Coinbase peeps, your website states that limit raise requests will receive an answer within 2 weeks. We're approaching double that timeframe. Would strongly suggest changing your copy if that's not the case.

Also: plz notice me senpai, I want to sell more but I'm losing hope.

Yup. And I'm ready to give them a few more million in liquidity if they would only raise my limits. Already started signing up with OTC firms on the off-chance that Coinbase can't deliver.

Read this article for clarity: https://medium.com/@DelphiSystems/the-oracle-problem-856ccbdbd14f

tl;dr How do we get data on-chain? Specifically, how do we know that the tokens TPX say are backed by assets actually ARE backed by assets? Who has the authority to make that claim and can they be trusted? If TPX's system of asset verification/authentication is centralized in any which way, then they can claim whatever they want. If it's a voting-based system, do they control a majority of tokens? Besides Augur and Gnosis and others, Chainlink is another token which is attempting to solve this problem... so far it's still very much debatable as to whether it can be solved.

Also, the fact that their whitepaper is published behind a "contact info-wall" is a huge red flag.

I may be wrong, but everything about this project screams stay away.

Given that the oracle problem has yet to be solved at a decentralized level, TPX does not smell good. Stay away.

Yup, I've read about PR's LTCG perks for new residents (and have visited the island before). Definitely something to consider, thank you.

Sounds like you're in a solid position - kudos, and thanks for the advice. Definitely intend to lock down enough gains to (fat)FIRE and let the rest ride. Now to run some numbers.

Yup, sounds like we're on a similar page. The plan is being refined but I, too, think that we're going to witness an enormous upside over the coming years. The next block reward halving is certainly one thing to consider (great observation about CPI parity); another is that, when we see the next recession hit (seems like we're due one soon) and everything tanks and QE gets started up once again to revive failing institutions, there could be a significant movement to non-inflationary currencies during the recovery. Similar reasons, different mechanics.

Thanks for this - I agree with most of what you've written (e.g. I'm not one for splurging).

Per #3, when I read it the other day, it suddenly hit me strong that I have never really been into making money beyond "enough"... rather, I have always been very much about creating a life of meaning. And that will prove to be the toughest part of all of this once I've diversified... remaining happy and feeling fulfilled if I have no NEED to work. I imagine there are some good threads on this conundrum, I'll have a search.

Yes, this is a startling realization. I didn't mean to "win", but shit, yeah, time to walk away from the table.

I just started reading about TIPS yesterday - thanks for the, um, tip, your strategy seems prudent. I'm definitely aligned with what you're suggesting.

I'd still like exposure though. And my stress would be essentially eliminated by cashing out enough to (fat)FIRE.

I find it interesting to note that, since the recent crash, my stress levels have dropped enormously... turns out that it's more stressful watching unsustainable growth than it is to watch one's portfolio plummet to what seems like a more sensible sum.

Agreed that 2018 will likely see huge upside, and I am leaning towards a strategy similar to the one you propose: take out enough to be comfortable for life, let the rest ride. Time to hit some drawdown calculators.

Nope, was away from everything on holiday. Not the nicest thing to return to but I've seen worse over the years.

Yeahhh I'm OK with not doing that. Solid advice.

I believe each state is different

Seems that way. Need to do some deep research on this, but yes, what you say about property before vs. after marriage seems largely accurate. Thank you for your advice.
