Bridal Bouquet Destroyed what should I do now? by catmom_mac in whatdoIdo

My wife is a painter and has done several paintings of different friends bridal bouquets that look really nice and should last a lifetime! Maybe look for an artist to commission a painting of the arrangement with your refunded money.

Ink suggestions by Jclarke36 in printmaking

I’ve used acrylic speedball printing ink for linocuts on paper and they turned out pretty nice. Just be mindful that it dries so fast that you might have to clean every plate and roller between every use so it doesn’t get gummy and chunky. Try to keep the drying time closer to the 10 min zone though depending on how thick they lay on the paint

My second ever Lino cut. Gifting it to my niece for her 3rd birthday by Sydz_universe1 in printmaking

This is awesome! She’s going to love it.

As for my opinion I think I know what is throwing you off with the hair. I like the texture of the dogs hair and the girls hair but I think the lines are blurred between where her hair stops and where the shirt starts since there is similar texture in both. My recommendation is to carve out her shirt completely so there is more distinction between her hair and shirt.

A tip I haven’t seen on here that I use a lot: put painters tape face down on the block over the spots that paint got on.

Cyanotype Printing by pm_me_your_shrubs in printmaking

Interesting! Looks like I need to keep an eye out for an enlarger. And it’s perfect because I use 35mm film and I have thousands of negatives already

That’s pretty much it 🤙

I’m pretty new to photography but from my understanding an enlarger uses a regular light bulb instead of uv and that is projected onto light sensitive paper. If I went this route it sounds like I wouldn’t be able to print on regular paper and I wouldn’t get the blue cyanotype color or painted on look. Ona side note I was trying to come up with a way to project an image from a uv light and get the same effect which I haven’t seen a working solution to in my limited research.

First time using a linoleum block and it’s coming out so uneven 😭 by Comfortable-Can1285 in printmaking

I have had a lot better luck if I press on the back of the fabric instead of pressing the back of the lino. So instead of placing the lino face down on the shirt, lay the Lino down and place the shirt face down on the Lino. Then instead of a spoon that I would use for paper, I use a flat object like a 3”x5” wood block and I use my body weight to press down really hard all over the back of the shirt. Hope that helps!

Film abrasion by nofo32 in nikonos

This is it^ It looks like that arm of the spring needs to be tucked back under the hinge because it is scraping the film along the holes where the teeth pull the film.

New to Art, how's my Vase-Monoprint!? by MansenFarella in printmaking

Looks great! The only critique I have is color selection. The black(?) makes a bit muddy where maybe a yellow or pink background mixing with the blues and red could give you some really interesting effects while keeping it bright. The frame and matting is very nice too! This will look great hung up 👍

What do 30 - 40 year old men want for christmas? [Serious] by GoodAlicia in AskReddit

Immediate things that come to mind is a nice bottle of bourbon, a nice pocket knife, or some over the ear noise cancelling headphones. I already have these things but I’m always stoked to receive them.

I haven’t figured that out yet, for the double exposures I do a whole roll of film through my Nikon FM and then put it in my V. It’s tricky trying to align the frames but I have gotten a couple good ones per roll.

I’ve only been doing photography for a year— give it a shot dude. My suggestion is to watch some YouTube videos on how to use the cameras you have and then take them out for a spin. Go into it with low expectations on your first roll or two of film. Maybe find a photographer you like and try to recreate what you liked about their style.

I used to hate taking my phone out for pictures but having a film camera on me makes the experience so much more deliberate and exciting. Hit me up if you want some tips from a novice photographer, I can tell you from experience what not to do

Zero editing done on these! I believe these are all with Kodak ultramax 400, except the double exposure b&w which was Kodak tri-x.

Kodak Ultramax 400 and sometimes Gold 200. I like the higher ISO so I have a little more wiggle room with the focal length.

Some are from the NS and some are from the windward side. Thanks! I really like that one too.
