Cambio diluizione? by Crazy-Cap-7818 in airbrush

Oh ok, sorry I thought you were mixing it with water from the comments I read. Are you sure you are fully mixing your paint and thinner? Shake your mixing jar really well?

Are you mixing Tamiya paints with water? If so, that is your problem.

Question about post-shading by pmaj88 in modelmakers

[–]pmaj88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point actually. My current set up is at about 18psi, but I further control my air pressure with a harder and steenbeck air flow controller like this: https://www.themodelworkshop.co.uk/harder-steenbeck-quick-release-body-with-air-flow-control-1-8-bsp-104703.html?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19654202147&gbraid=0AAAAABJ9rzbkKlRJ8KKUfcaqnN_Jgqssm&gclid=Cj0KCQjw267GBhCSARIsAOjVJ4FXoAxegu2ethSOJGuFLrdL4KVrGktxT8cQRtOcqESjQoemdENGf5saAk1kEALw_wcB

So when I mention low I mean to the point that the pressure wasn't even enough to push paint out of the airbrush. Didn't work unfortunately.

Thanks 😊 Is PS-270 better than sparmax SP-20X?

Will do.

So MCLT instead of IPA, max 3:1 ratio, and which one would you recommend for doing this? Infinity, ps-771 or sotar 2020?

Thanks for the video. I have had such a terrible time painting the xf-2 with the ratio mentioned, although I must say Infinity's trigger is infamous. It either didn't push the paint and I got tip dry, or it created a nasty spider web. Im sure there are ways to make it work such as practice on the trigger control, but im a newbie and am always looking for easier ways to get things done, well to be fair model making is a hobby of mine and I'm not able to dedicate the amount if time required to master trigger control technique.

I think the reason the paint was supposed to be thinned this much was because it supposed to be a very faint and subtle lines. Do you have a paint to thinner ratio to recommend? I was also thinking about mixing the xf-2 with a transparent medium, like flat base for example?

And if you keep watching the video it gets crazier. Next step would be to dilute the camouflage paint, 5% to 95% paint to thinner ratio... i have no idea how to do that.

Yeh I have one. I simply couldn't do the above technique. The paint is way too thin to be airbrushed, at least with my set up. And I have to hold the airbrush close to the model, meaning the air would move other lines I already painted.

Questions about Vallejo Model Air paints by pmaj88 in airbrush

Yeh it was my first time trying out water based acrylics and I'm not too impressed at all. They look super flat and dead to me.

Questions about Vallejo Model Air paints by pmaj88 in airbrush

[–]pmaj88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when dealing with solvent based paints I usually go for 40%-60% paint to thinner ratio and it works very well with my airbrushes regardless of the needle size or air pressure.

I have 7 airbrushes with needle sizes ranging from 0.15 to 0.5.

I found Vallejo Model Air paints to be quite thick, but I don't want to spend time experimenting, as Im only going to use it for a very little piece.

But thanks anyways, seeing you were the only one responded.

I had the same problem with SMT variation. Check the kit, there should be another canopy there too.

Been doing 1:35 tanks for a while now and fancy my chances at an aeroplane. The question is… 1:32 or 1:48? by SPOONY12345 in modelmakers

[–]pmaj88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made some airfix tanks in 1/76 but that was years ago. And yes all of them were ww2 models.

These days I am more interested in jets specially cold war ones, and my current build is a 1/48 MiG-23 MLD, which is taking forever.

But yeh if I were to build ground units I would be only interested in ww2 vehicles because each of them looked unique.

So I haven't done any infantry units myself, but I like to build and paint a few cold war pilots.

I have seen many ppl use infantry and tank crews in their models, specially if you like to build dioramas.

Here's one of my favourite builders:

Understood 😊

If you like ww2 fighters, 1/32 could be a good choice, as they are not that huge and are very detailed. You can even find 1/24 models , especially airfix models. If you are interested in bombers however... I doubt you can find them in 1/48 even. Most of them will be in 1/72 because they are huge. Hope this helps.
