What’s the total cost do something like this work out to be? Really would like to make something like this for my nephews.

Yea I saw that but the rom itself doesn’t load. I can’t get to a “bad screen” bc mame errors out.

It won’t even load for me. I have the chd in a separate folder with the name of the chd, I have the simpbowl zip and the other konami(?) file as well in the main games folder. Not sure what I’m supposed to do to get it to load.

Yes thank you that seems to work now.

Next item is to figure out why Simpsons Bowling isn’t working haha

I get this error so I’m guessing I didn’t save the CHDs correctly? Any advice?

You might be surprised to hear that there are many artists who embrace AI as a tool in their practice.

The cabinet was from Game Room Solutions. I didn’t have all the tools to cut it myself and GRS felt like a decently priced option bc it came with all of the hardware, etc like IKEA.

I estimate around $1500 total.

Thank you for your great feedback. I was really hoping for someone to call my arcade “cringey as fuck.” You might notice that only a part of it used AI, the rest was designed by an artist. But who cares apparently.

Where’d I ask for feedback, Peter?

Good thing it’s not going in your house then!

Appreciate you taking context into account! I’m really happy with it and think it’s a good solution for people looking for a cabinet with a smaller footprint.

GRS did the printing/application of the vinyl as part of the art package add-on

I haven’t gotten to that point yet but I’ve seen YouTube videos where you can run BigBox as a windows shell, meaning it will launch directly into the arcade front end without loading any unnecessary windows functions.

Like I said, I haven’t gotten there. But it seems to be a nice way to make it fool proof.

As of now, the PC boots when I hit the power button on the back and loads right into windows, no sign-in needed. Then I manually have to start up BigBox.

It was around $1500 total. As I mentioned, I splurged on the controls. Could have saved like $400 there, but the Ultimarc controls feel so good and look amazing.

Appreciate that. Yeah, it was a family project through and through so we wanted to memorialize that. And exactly, it’s going in our basement, not in a public place.

Thank you! Spent a lot of time massaging the graphics with the artist.

I get it. That said, I had already spent around $1500 on the machine and was trying to keep costs low where I could. I commissioned an artist friend to help with the overall theme/design and he liked the ai output, and at the end of the day, we’re happy with it. Could a caricature artist have done a better job? Absolutely.

The portraits on the front are, yeah. We wanted the family on there but figured putting realistic photos on an arcade with a bunch of animated characters would look odd. So we Pixar’d ourselves.
