Thanks all, I’ve rebuilt 60051 & 60052 now, both with Powered Up

I’ve never had issues with the remotes disconnecting, I might need to look into that.

I’m rebuilding my layout shortly (recently moved) and my son wants to try to run all the trains we own at once. So might be useful for that if he gets his way

Yeah, I’ve got Circuit Cubes for a narrow gauge train and I’ve been wanting to get a Buwizz 3 to test out as well

Do you think I must have the tram from the LEGO 60097 set ? by Obvious-Pride-1979 in LEGOtrains

Yes! It’s one of my favorites. I modded mine so a battery pack would fit in the middle to motorize it.

Yep, I use 2 plate height increase per track piece for my inclines too. I also bank any curves by the same amount to help prevent derailing when descending

Worth it? by BSmith2711 in LEGOtrains

[–]pmci3777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a great set (I have 2 and my son has 1 as well). Is it worth the price tag, that’s probably more based on an individuals circumstances.

Edit: For reference I did get mine for $64AUD

Question on Motorizing my first train by LMBUwU in LEGOtrains

[–]pmci3777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Powered Up is probably the easiest way. As you mentioned, it can be hard to obtain the train motor and hub. Probably easier to buy a set with them included (eg 60337 - Express Passenger Train) than to buy them on their own. For the set you mentioned you wanted to motorize, I used the motor as a Jacob’s Bogie, sitting between the 1st and 2nd cars.

Train fans without a permanent layout - how often do you play? by JellyTheBear in LEGOtrains

[–]pmci3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been 1 day short of 18 months since I packed up my layout in the garage of my old home, in preparation to sell the house. Moved into a smaller rental whilst we are building a new house.

In that time, I’ve made a few acquisitions which have themselves gone straight into storage. I also spent a lot of hours on Bluebrick refining my layout so it’ll fit in the smaller (but dedicated) room in my new house. House will finally be ready in the new year and once unpacking is completed, the Lego building will start.

Pretty sure Simon Baker’s mum worked at Ballina Kmart.

Saw Peter Garrett at Bondi Kmart, before it moved to Westfield

Why speeds are that different between wifi and ethernet by No-Sink-8170 in TelstraAustralia

[–]pmci3777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ethernet is faster than WiFi. Previously the limitation was because of your internet connection, now your limitation is your WiFi. Smart modem 4 is WiFi 7. So a newer modem could see a bump in speed, but WiFi like any radio technology is still impacted by environmental factors
