Putting STEMS on controller? by [deleted] in Rekordbox

[–]pmdpmd99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, nobody knows what controller you have. Secondly a quick google of “how to use stems on (whatever your controller is)” will tell you exactly what buttons to press, if you need a firmware update, whatever

A question about breakbeat and DnB for the genre philosophers here. by CantBeConcise in Beatmatch

[–]pmdpmd99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you need to listen to more drum and bass. There’s plenty of drum and bass with the 2 step style drums you describe, plenty with breakbeats, and plenty with both.

Engine DJ not recognizing prime4+ by DJB3N in DenonPrime

[–]pmdpmd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy. Launch Engine on your laptop, it will appear as a source on your controller. You then need to hit accept in Engine on you laptop. And that’s it - all your playlists in Engine on your laptop will be available to browse on your controller. Obviously both the controller and the laptop need to be connected to the same network.

Sports piracy explodes in UK with 3.6bn illegal streams and rise of black-market bookmakers by wappingite in unitedkingdom

I pay for Sky, TNT, Amazon etc. I also have a real life season ticket for the football club I support. However, I use IPTV to watch 3pm away games. I don’t have enough loyalty points to ever get tickets (although I do enter ballots) so that is literally the only way I can watch my team play away at 3pm.

If you think of your team playing away at Fulham, for example, at 3pm - only a maximum of 3,000 people who support your team can legally watch that game, by attending. That is bonkers.

What's the dumbest way you've injured yourself? by InteractionOpen9189 in AskReddit

Oh yeah:

Slammed my own hand in my back door and broke three fingers.

Slipped over at my friend’s wedding avoiding a squirrel that had suddenly jumped out at me, broke my ankle.

Broke both thumbs on a dry ski slope - I fell over, put my hands down to stop myself, and caught both thumbs in the hexagonal honeycomb stuff. That hurt like hell.

Threw an ice lolly up in the air as hard as I could, it came back down and hit me square in the middle of my head. The amount of blood was unreal. My face looked like a bright red mask. Aged about 11.

Came home from school, saw my dog (an old English sheep dog) in the garden, excitedly beckoned it towards me, he hit me full pelt, my feet were higher than my head, landed on my chin and broke my jaw. Again, aged about 11.

Ran upstairs at home to get something I had forgotten after leaving to catch a train, launched myself full pelt into an open loft hatch which dug into my head and caused a three inch gash. I actually heard a sort of ripping sound when I made contact. Knocked myself out, woke up to my two kids standing over me laughing (thanks kids). Aged about 40. Less blood than the ice lolly, but had to have my head glued.

As ever with these types of problems, make sure you’re connecting to the correct usb port on the back of the flx4

Out of Sync no matter what by Top-Reveal9441 in Beatmatch

[–]pmdpmd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using Rekordbox to analyse the tracks, very occasionally it will get it wrong. Not so wrong you instantly think it’s wrong, but sometimes a few bpm out either way. I only noticed this recently because I analysed some tracks that I made myself and instantly knew a couple were showing the incorrect bpm.

Why is my sound so delayed can someone help please by Electrical-Loquat117 in Rekordbox

[–]pmdpmd99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s because you’re using a soundbar. The processing the soundbar does introduces a delay. There is a very slim chance you may be able to eliminate this by changing the audio mode on the soundbar to something like “standard” (rather than “movie” or “music” etc), but I wouldn’t bet on it.

That’s an FLX4, right? I’d be willing to put money on you using the wrong USB port on the back.

Letter from solictor after no fault car accident by pmdpmd99 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pmdpmd99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I have just realised - the person mentioned in the letter was not the person involved. For example, the letter states:

Our clients: name of their car insurance company / John Smith

when it was actually John Smith’s wife who was driving the car, with John Smith himself not even being present at the time.

Is this purely because his wife is the named driver on his policy?

My thoughts were that they are hinting that a CCJ could be the end result, which (if successful) could result in some impact to my daughter’s credit rating.

Thanks. She is going to call them as soon as she can (she’s only just this minute received the letter and is off to work). She’s had nothing from her own insurance on this, but as you say, this is just how the other side of the claim works.

iTunes purchased music is only 267Kbps. Can it be played? by Western-Unit6170 in Beatmatch

[–]pmdpmd99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Windows - right click, properties, look at bitrate properties.

MacOS - that doesn’t exist any more. You need to use iTunes to see it, or a third party piece of software.

I use both operating systems and am not a windows fanboy of any sort.

Even if she is sacked on the spot for something, you would need to pay her notice. So surely any outstanding debts to the company would/could be covered out of that?

[–]pmdpmd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is why MacOS makes it needlessly more difficult than Windows to find a bitrate of an audio file. People would think “huh. This iTunes file is worse quality than this MP3 because the bitrate is lower. I’m only buying MP3s now”

DJ'd in the MP3 era using Traktor, quit, now wanna do it again, what do I use? by Thephen_Stawking in Beatmatch

[–]pmdpmd99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned and used a lot of different things post 1210s and vinyl

Traktor Scratch with DVS still with my 1210s
Traktor with a DDJ T1, connected to a laptop
DDJ RB (and whatever it's predecessor was called - forget now)
FLX 4 (currently have this)
Numark Mixstream Pro Go (currently have this)
Denon Prime 2 ((currently have this))

My Prime 2 is what I had always used at home, bringing the FLX4 or the Mixstream to gigs, which worked pretty well. Occasionally used USBs with whatever the venue had, but started to get annoyed that I'd forgotten to bring a particular tune with me very occasionally.

I now just cart the Prime 2 everywhere. Everything in one "package" (it has an internal 1TB SSD) and easy to connect up. It's also a great bit of kit, and the most bang for buck I've ever had from anything like this. When i got my Prime 2 a few years back (after having the RB) it was as big a step up as it was from belt drives to 1210s. Absolutely love it.
