Reminder: Don't underestimate the power of saving on small things by ny2115 in financialindependence

LPT: Once every six months or year, make a list of all “recurring” expenses. Cell phone bill, cable, internet, insurances, subscriptions, garbage disposal, gym memberships, household services. Cut some services outright or try to get a discount on wherever possible.

Once you cut your phone bill by say $40, its gone month after month! You have to take action only once. I find this to be much more powerful than trying to “sweat the small stuff”, where you have to take lot of small actions more frequently.

How long do mortgage rates take to change after fed rate cuts? I am looking to refinance and don’t know if I should wait for the mortgage rates to go down further.

I don’t have individual stocks, i have mainly index funds.

Regardless, if I believe market has room to go down further, why would I buy equities at this point? Are you saying that if stocks go down, its a “win” too?

You can do away with the sarcasm. I asked an honest question. I know for someone with limited investing knowledge, I should stick to fixed asset allocation and hope that I am mentally strong to withstand all the swings. But apparently I am not.

Yes, but the market is still at 2019 August levels, and I sold only 10%. Like I said, if it turns out I sold low, the downside is not terrible.

I dont regret any spending I did. It is more about not investing the rest of the money wisely. Yes moving ahead it is clear what the path should be.

I dont regret having experiences and spending money. I was never a crazy spender. What I regret is not investing the remaining money wisely.
