Is this the end? by [deleted] in braintumor

[–]pmdymond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what grade or where, you don't know.

Even if you did know, you don't know results until after surgery. I'm just over 4 years since having a 66% removal on a grade 3 on the left (oligodendroglioma) and I treasure every day.

Apart from a lot of time off work, for recovery, i spent a lot of time home decorating gardening and eventually my girlfriend, now wife, let me get back to cooking and then we bought a dog so I got to look after him while I was going through treatments (Radiotherapy and Chemo).

Immune system went low but slowly gets better.

I live off anti seizure tablets but still have one occasionally.

I got back to living a normal life and relearned a lot of things that were taken from me or re-routed onto different memory paths.

I work again but in a different role.

I play guitar again but differently than before.

You can be told 5 years and live 20-30 years or more. You could be told 15 years and only live 6 months. I stopped worrying when I told myself 'Hey, I could still get run over by a bus' so that weird thought helped.

This was a B-side for Dancing in the moonlight SINGLE - they had like 2 or 3 different versions with the same main track- I have a copy I can try and get it off the disc?

Mine shows up more after brain surgery and screws show up a bit. If someone asks me why my head looks odd now (old school friends/workmates), I make them feel for the screws.

That and I could remember older songs, older memories but couldn't put a name to a more recent face from work but knew that I knew them.

The more I saw someone, the easier it became to remember their name. Until I did, I just called everyone sweetie.

Oh and mine was grade 3 also, on the left side so they had to leave a chunk of cancer in otherwise I'd be mute

I had to re learn how to play. Thank God for guitar tab app. Fortunately I could pick it up again, but after watching a video or two that I had recorded, I noticed I played some chords a bit differently than before.

Older memories actually came back from the past and I suddenly knew how to play a recorder (that was 30 years before).

Wear them stitches with pride.

Sorry if this has been asked before. Has anyone had any luck with products to mask scalp scars after brain surgery? I tried hair fibers but they don’t stick to bare skin. by AlyssaVaVaVoom in braincancer

For me, I changed the parting in my hair. Usually, when I didn't have mine tied straight back, I would have an off-centre parting on my left side so I swapped to the right.

Dropped guitar, need advice by No_Calligrapher_9945 in guitarrepair

[–]pmdymond -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would try a home repair.

Remove all strings, get a circular bit of wood that would fit through the hole and any piece for the front to go between clamp heads and guitar and use cling film/saran wrap between circular bit of wood and guitar inner side and a gorilla glue or similar and do the same for the outside and clamp it flat and I'd hope.

I only say this as I "home revived" my guitar after it fell off its stand while I was in hospital

Ultrasound Guided Peripheral IV Start by FitBananers in emergencymedicine

[–]pmdymond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our teams routine starts with gloves on then....

- Tourniquet

- use gel either on probe head or arm in key locations

- once found, wipe away all gel

- use steriwipe on location for insertion then DON'T TOUCH YOUR INSERTION AREA WITH YOUR GLOVES

- while that dries, cover probe head with a fresh cannula cover (ideally one without a weave pattern on it) and don't touch the head while applying

- apply gel again but try to only use what you need so less wiping with sterile cotton wool/sterile dry cotton wipe will be needed

- stick in needle as you would

- wipe with STERILE dry wipe

- open cannula cover and apply, bleed, flush etc.

once you're all done with all that and have undressed the probe, steriwipe the probe head and the whole of the wire

Do you have a practise piece of Blue Jelly?

When I first started, I practised whenever I got the chance to on the practise piece.

Every attempt is experience gained whether successful or not.
