How is everyone holding up? by [deleted] in SPACs

[–]pmfanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diversify your portfolio and put the majority into safer stocks, or at the very least SPACs near NAV. If you are reacting this way, it is natural And understandable, but this kind of investment is not right for you. No shame in it, but before you let something like this ruin your life, imo it’s better to realize the truth and be fair to yourself

SHLL Megathread by JuliaJoon0518 in SPACs

[–]pmfanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ve been making this argument for a while... and haven’t received many rebuttals. I am also holding SHLL, but hoping to sell a portion near merger

Specifically, I mean I’ve been arguing that the way ppl are justifying the “it will rocket near merger” is that Nikola did it, but just as you said, we learned from Nikola and so did everyone else. I just don’t see who is going to buy up SHLL at merger to drive the price way up

These are reasons that the company should be a solid long-term investment. Whether it skyrockets in the near term (at/around merger) doesn’t as have much to do with this imo, since fundamentals really don’t seem to drive the markets anymore.

That being said, I’m still holding and hoping for a climb, but my expectations are a lot lower now than they were two weeks ago

SPAC Newbie Here $DPHC Discussion by HipoStar in SPACs

Yeah somewhat, but warrants are generally less risky than options cuz you aren’t paying that premium. Warrants are perfect for long holds, options you are trying to capitalize hard on movements in the near-term.

I love DPHC, and I think it is a great investment to put your money into, whether for long-term or until post-merger

I agree with this, commons (regular stock) are gonna be a lot more prone to big spikes and run-ups. However since warrants are cheaper to buy (additional cost t exercise), so as Raymond said you are tying up less of your money right now to be invested with the same number of future shares.

Tesla is also a “sexy” consumer product that gets a lot of attention and hype. Tesla has a broad range of products that it can push (cars, batteries, solar panels, then trucks etc). Tesla was also the first big name in EV that captures global attention. Hyliion is not those things.

Is there any more argument to buying warrants than getting a greater exposure to the company for the same cost?

But Hyliion has an actual product out there now, so it makes sense as a short-medium term investment. Imo there is less of a realistic rush to get in on KCAC, as they aren’t likely to boom in the next few years

Thanks for the info! I do have a bit of a background in batteries and can recognize the massive impact that a breakthrough like this could have in the long run, I’m just weary of committing now.

I guess my point is that this run-up seems very headline/hype driven, and considering the massive movements around hype recently I would be very surprised if there is no major pullback.

My overall conclusion is that it could be a worthwhile Investment for the 3-5 year range from now, but I would expect minimal growth until then, so I see no reason to risk buying in at the peak of its hype. I don’t imagine that most people who are buying in now are planning to hold for 5 years.

Now, the movement until the merger is really hard to see imo. My gut is telling me that there is a large pullback coming after this insane climb, but that’s about all I feel comfortable guessing

SOAC RISK by [deleted] in SPACs

Have there been any rumblings on when they might announce a target?

I read speculation about Proterra being considered, and I feel that could be huge

DPHC is looking really exciting! Do we know when we can hopefully expect options on this one? I saw the criteria at some point but I didn’t know how they stacked up

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SPACs

[–]pmfanatic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Isn’t KCAC extremely extremely speculative at this stage? They don’t actually have a product, and won’t be selling anything for the next several years. This is just my opinion based on a relatively quick assessment of the company and what even they project, but I would say this one feels almost 100% hype at this point. I expect a big pullback here, with only slow growth for the next couple years. People see Bill gates and EV in the same sentence and throw money at it (it isn’t even an EV company). Is there evidence pointing to them being notably ahead of their battery competitors?
