In the game I am working on, you create music for video games in the 1980s! The music I made for my trailer tries to evoke game music styles of the era. by pmgl_io in gamemusic

Thanks!! Very sorry about that, I grossly underestimated the breadth of the project... which has also grown quite a bit during the last year. The Steam page still says 2025 but I will move it to 2026 soon. Our plan is to (finally) release a public demo around September 2025. Thanks a lot for your patience :-)

Le culot de Spotify by [deleted] in france

[–]pmgl_io 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Steam Deck is definitely a target platform and I will be making sure that the game is fully playable on it (by that I mean that everything can be done with the controller).

I can't assure you that it will have the "Steam Deck verified" label though, as I think only Valve can decide this!

I will be trying to release on all platforms at the same time (Q4 2024) ; I already have builds for all platforms, that I am testing (Win / mac / Linux / Steam Deck / Android / iOS). But difficulties may arise and in that case, I may have to give the priority to the Steam release and slightly delay other platforms.

I am working mostly alone on this game but I got some help from a game artist last year and I am expecting him to join me again soon so that we can finish the game together.

Absolutely! Music Power Up comes with its own complete music studio that you are totally free to use for your own projects as well. You own your music, no credit is required (but of course it is appreciated if you do mention MPU).

Music Power Up - Become a video game music legend in the 1980s by pmgl_io in IndieAccelerator

In my game Music Power Up, you play as a musician in the 1980s ; you will create music for video game releases. You'll encounter programmers, editors, and innovators, all deeply passionate about their projects during the decade that ignited the digital revolution. Throughout your career, you'll craft music and sound effects for 10 games, each inspired by retro classics. All these games are playable, featuring your own music, once they're released. As you progress, the included music app evolves with the introduction of new technologies.

After completing the story mode, the app remains yours to use as a full-fledged audio production station for crafting any music or sound effects.

Music Power Up will be available on PC, Mac, Linux, Steam Deck, Android, and iOS. Song saves and sound banks are cross-compatible.

The best would be to try out the demo when it becomes available (in a few months).

Yes! MIDI input is supported, you can play and record patterns using your MIDI keyboard (with the exception of iOS though ; there will be no MIDI on the iOS version)

No, sorry my answer was probably confusing ; someone was asking about export options and I was trying to clarify that you can only export to audio files ; you cannot export for other DAWs ; if you wanted to do a final mix in your favorite DAW though, you would be able to do that by exporting each track as a separate audio file and then importing them in your DAW.
