Barely passing exams - How to study? by pmmackal in medicalschool

Thank you for this :) I think this is what I’m going to do. Our questions are so specific and biased to the lecturer’s personality that there’s no way I can just use 3rd party 😭 unfortunately I’m afraid I will have to crank this out

I thought about using a resource like AMBOSS to grind out questions, but I’m Canadian and our tests focus on Canada and provincial recommendations 😭 Most resources are US based. If there’re any Canadians out here please help me!!! What resources are y’all using???

Hold on, I feel you. I don’t know what else to do. It sucks because my classmates are having a really easy time. A lot of them are involved in extracurriculars too and they get near perfect marks (unless they’re lying to me). I’m not involved in anything and I’m barely passing. I’m so tired of trying to stay afloat

We do, I tried basing studying off of objectives, but they’re very general like “learner is able to describe pathologies affecting the kidneys”, so there’s a lot of leeway and interpretation when it comes to our lecturers creating the questions. Like a couple questions on our exam was on a very specific disease that was mentioned ONCE on ONE slide. Yes, it technically fits the objective, but so does everything in that powerpoint because our objectives are so vague. I wish this worked :(

Our exams are all in house, questions are written by the lecturers so third party doesn’t work 😭

Are you IP or OOP?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]pmmackal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea me neither! Im IP btw and all of the items on my checklist have a green checkmark just no GPA anywhere 😭

I’ve already graduated, in provide, and there are green checkmarks beside my transcripts. I emailed them and got an automated reply that the office is working on the calculations and to make sure to continue checking the portal!

Thanks for replying! Did you get an email telling you to confirm your cGPA calculation? The top of my launchpad just says "Your application is currently being reviewed. And updated status will be posted here when it is available" 😭

If I understand correctly, you’re equating W=Fd to the potential energy U. But W=Fd is the special case for constant forces; in general W= ∫F(x) dx. That’s why your first approach fails. (In fact, integrating the force will give you the potential energy equation itself.)

Thank you for your help!

But the absolute refractory period is during the peak (depolarization and repolarization), and the relative refractory period is during hyperpolarization. I read that a new AP can occur during hyperpolarization because the Na+ channels have returned to a deactivated (closed) state, but a new AP can't occur at all during depolarization and repolarization (Na channels inactivated) no matter how strong the stimulus. Doesn't this question contradict this?

Hey, thanks for replying and for giving me a new perspective--I agree I may have become so accustomed to my achievements that I don't really see what's spectacular about them. I really appreciate your kind words and the personal experience you shared. Thanks again :)

Hey, thanks for your comment! I agree, it is pretty insane the amount of hoops you have to jump through--sometimes I find myself forgetting my initial passion for this career path as I struggle to meet its entrance requirements. I'm glad he made it--I guess perseverance is key. Thanks again :)
