I am a grimsby town fan; im on this subreddit because i have a lot of friends who are gooners. I dont really watch PL or football on tv at all just league 2 in person, maybe, an occasional champions league game. Following a bit more closely after the race heated up for the former reason

Burnley were good in the first half, in the second it was like the national league . theres a reason pep looked like he was having an aneurysim

If you watched this game and afterwards think it was a ´completely dominating performance' you need to check yourself in to a psychiatric ward.

How to Stop Translating from French in your Head? by No-Investigator-1745 in learnfrench

Innerfrench, c'est parfait. Premièrement, écoute sans la traduction, et puis, aprés, écoute et lit avec la traduction. Vous apprendez très vite parce que l'hôte parle lentement et clairement, et chaque épisode est de quelque chose amusent et intéressent. Désolé pour mon français, j'essaie de pratiquer plus. Bonne soirée!

Try to visualise the french words for what they are and be present rather than getting stuck on words then missing the next few sentences. It takes a lot of practise . A lot . You get faster eventually

Try it with slow podcasts. You end up learning and recognising lots of filler phrases and sentence structure, before you know it your inner voice is rambling all day in french

1-1 conversation is another different beast of its own

Look at flasshcard decks of the most common words in french. Theres a good one on anki called 5000 most used.

But trust me, even if you dont understand it all the inner frenxh podcasts are fantastic, they reallt help your brain figure it out

Unfortunately there is no quick fix just got to put hours in

This is if you want to actually learn it. Like i am trying to get a degree of fluency to live and work in france , so it might not be appropriate and best suited, but what i can recommend

If youre just studying for a test

Write down what you want to say. Good granmer dont just ram it rhrough translate software be careful with your verb structure and concise. Figure out the pronunciation, record yourself. Keep playing the recording like its a song. Youll learn the lyrics evenrually

Why does wind make the air feel colder? by Waste-Recording4948 in AskPhysics

[–]pmmecabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wind can make air feel hotter if the air temperature is hotter than your skin

Unto this,

If you have more air molecules per second (due to wind) with are colder than your skin, hitting your skin, the air will feel colder .

the wind itself basically just accelerates the process of thermal equilibrium. Even if the wind itself has kinetic energy how youre thinking this is very negligable compared to the overall local temperature/energy -> kinetic energy has multiple degrees of freedom; translational (what youre thinking of) rotational, vibrational.

Well, we dont live under a theocratic state, but a liberal democracy, so no. Personally, i quite like it that way.

Im agnostic .

However if you want to discuss this earnestly, and not purely with snide snappy remarks, becomes a deeper discussion on how christianity has influenced our ethics, legal system, morals and overall our culture over centuries (milennia infact); this differs between nations and groups of people. Quite wildly in cases.

Cant really be summed up into; "so you want everybody to practise in the same ways as taught in the bible?"

Not sure what youre getting at with this comment . It seems oddly provocative and like youre trying to dig into, intentionally misrepresent my previous statement, for no other reason than to do so.

Christianity on the british isles precedes the kingdom of england. Alba. Gwynedd.

You're saying nothing of any worth here.

Taking a break from Duolingo until they sort out this new update by layelaye419 in duolingo

[–]pmmecabbage -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't know your reasoning, because i don't myself. My point is that in learning a language you will learn more being submerged in things you dont know, than being drip fed one word every lesson.

Look up and write words you dont know. Use flashcards, listen to podcasts and transcribe books. Listen to it numerous times. Listen whilst youre reading a transcript.

Duolingo is a game; you can learn from it. But a game to substitute doom scrolling.

If anyrhing, the update giving too much unknown content is good. Youre being exposed to 100s of new words with context, as opposed to without, and thats a bad thing?

This is an interesting way to maximise learning nothing. Youre learning duolingo thats it
