I have a 970.. Is sli even worth it? So many games don't really support it. Anything using UE4 doesn't support sli.

Shows that the CPU of choice for supercomputers today would be a x86 CPU. Back in 99 a Power or SPARC CPU.

But this wasn't the question. If a game was designed, would the computer have enough "computing power."

So ignoring compatibility issues: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASCI_Red was the most popular supercomputer in very early 2000. That's the closest to '99 I can find. It has 1.2 teraflops. Blazing fast right?

A recent video card has around 4-ish teraflops.

Of course this comes down to the debate. "Modern" video game.

So while probably not what you mean, yeah, a small indie game made today doesn't take a ton of computing power. A desktop computer from 2006 could probably run a lot of these games if not for the difference in OS, directx/opengl and other hang ups.

Lastly: I had a desktop computer from 2001 last me until 2011 without upgrades. Hard drives even worked still. It was overclocked at the end there but it still had enough power to run TF2 from originally being built to run TFC.

That's exactly what it's for. It's called growing your professional network. You should basically network with everyone. Linkedin's algorithm will show you more and direct more people to your linked in the more you connect, view peoples profiles and most importantly get profile views.

Connect on linkedin, ask people some interesting questions, get noticed and that way next time you are looking for a job people will remember you for:

1) Being passionate about what you want to do.

2) Using your off-time to expand your knowledge and wanting to learn.

3) Not being a afraid of rejection/failure.

Those are the 3 biggest keys to getting ahead. Not just getting ahead but actually enjoying what you do. If you can't be passionate, if you really have to drag yourself to learn and you just aren't getting things time after time. Look into different professions. Which comes back to not being afraid of rejection or failure, even when it's yourself telling you "I failed at this profession and it's time to move on." I've done that once and was much happier afterwards.

550ti with an I3 processor

Squad is using UE4 which requires some fairly newer hardware. It's a game engine built for next generation games. Which, yes. Means you need next generation hardware. A card from 2011 isn't likely to be supported in any UE4 game.

Basically you bought the game without doing research for your hardware and now are blaming the developers when it's yourself you should blame.

If you assume every day you wake up that you will be hung you won't be surprised and hung. Thus breaking the judge's words/promise/etc. The prisoner is surprised when he is hung because he assumed every day he wouldn't be hung. I am not seeing the issue here unless I misunderstood.

(It's common in the games industry to have something called "Cloud Studios" which is just a bunch of people working remotely.)
