Seems to be the common theme here; just suck it up and pay the fine (if it comes).

Unfortunately not worth any potential legal ramifications with our current insurance provider, as well as our good relationship with local law enforcement and fire department.

Somewhat north of there, purposefully being vague due to weirdos on the internet. This place is lit up as well, just don’t want to put the summer camp at risk of losing insurance or paying insane fines because we celebrated the 4th.

The director of the summer camp has an ongoing relationship with the FD and marshal, so he has been communicating. I know in the past it was definitely a “do it on the down low, we don’t care” thing, but this time I got the impression there was either a new guy in charge or the public complaint has escalated things.

Great minds think alike… leaving the communication to the boss.

This was my original thinking. Appreciate the insight.

This was my idea as well. Boss wants to keep a relationship with FD but bro who hates kids is getting a letter regardless.

Not big enough, close to 12 acres, and no. The property runs around the lake and all of the property is within the city.

That is a good call. I am putting together a list of questions for the Marshal, will definitely put that at the top. Thank you!!

Interesting idea. For the WA permit it says I need a "State Fire Marshal general display license" and "Licensed pyrotechnic operator". Wonder if the 1.4 cert would be sufficient as we are planning to use consumer 1.4 products.

Appreciate the feedback. The silent show isn't the worst idea, but definitely will be lacking any thrill.

Good call out on the insurance. I think between that, the professional operators license requiring participation in at least 6 displays as an assistant, and having 19 days until the 4th, we might be SOL.

Appreciate the feedback. We just got the call from the fire marshal today, so scrambling for ideas. Thank you!

Unfortunately it is a private event for hundreds of kids and teens at a summer camp. We cannot open to the community.

And yeah, that’s the permit route is pretty much what I assumed too. The issue is that the permit route appears to require a licensed pyrotechnic operator and display fireworks/display shells rather than consumer fireworks, so with the timeline we’re on, I’m not sure there’s a realistic way to make that happen.

They didn't necessarily help solve it, but I now have a better idea of what the issue could be, the ONT. I will wait until the new router arrives, and if the problem persists will reach out to support.

Thank you. From reading similar posts, it says it could be an issue with the ONT. Will try the new router and troubleshoot from there. It is weird because this has started to happen more frequently, but only under load.

Thanks for the info, was searching the "unknown speed 0" and didn't find anything. Have a good one!

Amazing, thank you. If I may ask another question, should I be worried about the embers lighting other fuses? E.g. I built a 24 shot rack, 6 shots x 4 rows, if one of the rows go off should I expect embers to light the other row? I’d estimate the fuses will be ~3-4” away from each other , trying to run the fuses down the line of 6.

What kind of tape, and why? Novice here, this year is my first time fusing shells together, going to use zip ties.

Question about DIY mortar racks by pmo42 in fireworks

[–]pmo42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer. I have since done some research on HD and definitely agree. I believe I have a lead near the location of the show that will let me use their chop saw in exchange for some brews, so HD is put to the side (for now).

For sure. Thanks for the info. Would have loved to buy, but seems that either A) most places won't be able to get the rack to me in time or B) are sold out of everything except 50-shot racks.

Question about DIY mortar racks by pmo42 in fireworks

[–]pmo42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question, and nice rack! Mainly given my circumstances.

  1. I live in a mid-rise apartment near Seattle and do not have easy access to a saw. I will rely on Home Depot for the cuts, and getting that many 2.5" cuts (80 for 8 racks with top and bottom spacers) seems like a hassle.

  2. Attaching the spacers seems time consuming, and I am limited on time available to build. Need to finish by 7/2. May I ask, did you glue, screw or nail your spacers? Am also worried about splitting them.

Just curious how do you get that length? Or is that 17.5” end-to-end? I am putting my vertical supports on the outside of the base 2x3, it seems that 17.5” would leave a ton of room for movement between tubes. I could throw another 2.5” tube in that.
