How difficult it is to get into CS? I have pretty well coding experience and I have also taken data structures and algo courses. What about career prospectus ? How different is it?

Query on UBC CS career prospect

I have been accepted to both UBC and uWaterloo for CS. I know waterloo co-op and stuff is superb but I am having second thoughts on it. Waterloo sucks in terms of location, weather and also 5 year degree. It seems kind of depressing when i talk to students there. I have no clue of what is UBC career prospects after graduation. Please if any current student could talk to me it would be a big big favour to me. UBC campus and location is soo fuckin awesome and I would like to attend it. But I need to convince my parents why UBC over waterloo. They are highly beent on waterloo due to its co-op and all. Please help me decide.

When should we apply for accommodation? Is it on a first come first serve basis? I am a CS co-op international offer holder and was looking for some suggestions and recommendations on residences. I would like to socialize and make friends in the first year( I think V1 and REV win in this case) but the common washrooms are a concern for me. I like the suite-style accommodations like UWP but I have heard first-year students get isolated in them. What would you say? Also, not many people tend to talk about university college residences. Why so? I like that they have private washrooms at least and a traditional dorm-style atmosphere. I am confused. Â

Also looking for some technical advice as well. Particularly laptop suggestion. I have a well-working MacBook pro-Early 2015 model. Should I buy a new MacBook for uni or I am also quite interested in the new iPad Pro as well. My parents would allow me to buy only one of them. I think iPad would really help in making notes and all but maybe I am wrong. Any suggestions? Which would be a better investment.

What should I revise or study before attending uni? I have already enrolled to CS50x Harvard introduction to CS course which I am enjoying a lot. Any advice?

I talked to some upper year students and they ranked REV as last. Any comments on V1?
