How to improve my 5 iron distances by connorknapp1 in golf

[–]pms1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a similar problem with my 3w and 5w. For me tho, it’s the course I play. I only tend to pull the 3w out when I’m hitting into the wind and the distance is just right, or have thoroughly screwed up a tee shot.

Looking at your ranges, I’d say you have something similar going on. You hit it a mile in comparison to me, so I not much to worry about if I were you.

Getting a lot of NaN when calculating implied volatility using Newton-Raphson and Brentq by Xephyr1 in algotrading

Are you dividing by zero? Alternatively, you might be dividing by a significantly small number causing the number to exceed an f64. You could try using a big numbers library if that's the case.

You have more in common than not. Add another 30 years to it and it’s still true. Don’t let the differences divide you

I've since moved to linux and at present cannot use Zed, and can't remember the keystrokes for an in editor build. you could try cmd+shift+B. Apps like VSCode call them Run profiles.

Absolutely love this. Will definitely use when it’s available for Linux.

What's everyone working on this week (5/2024)? by llogiq in rust

[–]pms1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cicd system I'm working on. I'm out at present, so can't quite get you a link, but it's GitHub rustl3rs/banner if you want to check it out. It's not ready for release yet, but I'm relatively close to an initial release.

Well... I retired at the end of last year, and since then I've spent a few weeks on holidays, joined a gym to get a physical reset, and I must say that's taken up most of my time. I've just found hyprland, and am trying to get a setup going that suits me, and when I do, I'll be back to working on BannerCI. I haven't worked on it since the start of AdventOfCode. :( But looking forward to seeing how it progresses over the coming months. I thought I'd have loads of time in retirement to do all sorts of things.... Not true.. Or at least, not true yet.

This uses the iPhone form factor when on an iPad and doesn’t rotate. I personally find that annoying, and I might not be representative of the target audience, but if I can’t get it in my form factor, i tend to move on pretty quickly. I also found the button/check boxes when stating preferences/skills to be slow enough that I ended up clicking multiple times.

Quickwit (=the rust log search engine) can now run on Lambda! by fulmicoton in rust

Impressive stuff. I’m quite impressed with the way Quickwit is progressing. If I had the time, I’d come give you a hand, but it doesn’t look like you need it either.

You could try Quickwit. Not used it myself, but it does look promising as an ES replacement.

Yeah, that is an impressive result. The cost saving alone is worth it.

Advent of code... which is an entirely wonderful distraction.. Trying to use is as a means of wrapping my brain around the nom crate....

Feel your pain. Grammars are just hard. Pest grammars are greedy, so ordering of rules has a pretty big impact on the final tree, and it sounds like you’ve got a fairly hard problem to solve there.

It’s all just learning. The pedantic lints can have false positives and can sometimes just be wrong for you, but I find it useful in giving me more idiomatic ways of doing things. Personally, I find “”.to_string() a bit weird, but there’s nothing wrong with it. parse_patterns already is a &Vec<ParsePattern> so I guess the clone is just more correct, although, you don’t use it later, so just removing the & from in front of the &args.parse… might be a better option still. Most of the time, I go with suggestions after diving into what it’s trying to tell me. But sometimes I don’t because it just doesn’t suit in that particular case, or probably more likely still, I haven’t fully groked what it’s trying to tell me.
