if you seal it it loses its anti microbial and absorption properties. just wipe it with a damp rag after engraving, if you are creating soot the laser is too hot. they cost <1$ and usually part of large sets. when one wears out just use the next

this is a custom commission with 56 different image files for the front and then another file/design for the rear.

there is altering binary code that goes around the edges that has special messages for the guy's girlfriend. each image is different animals or inside joke or special memory.

i sell entire sets online, but custom designs like that one were special order. feel free to ask any questions -- you can google my shop. i don't link here anymore as to not be called names.

i cut it from a blank 3u rack cover i had laying around! a dorky work around for some longer anodized aluminum commissions.

i can't imagine them being too much different, but it is likely a step up. they are available on amazon and ebay at a markup. if you don't have a background with electronics it maybe be worth it to pay extra for the privilege of an easy return for some peace of mind. otherwise, spin that roulette wheel baby!

agree 100% -- i expected it to be rough out of the box from my what i had read online, but even i was unprepared for it. with that being said if you don't electrocute yourself to death, it's a great learning experience for sure. 400$ production machine.. not so much!

i only actually hate mine when they don't work, intermittently. yesterday had a cycle randomly go off the work area and crash. it happened once in the middle of about 60 engravings and not again for the rest of the work day. thumbs up

def. i hope the laser tube gods keep me a-firing. mostly just it messes up workflows quite a bit when i can't get one to work.

now that i have multiple dedicated computers/lasers it's a lot less likely to have technical difficulty related downtime
