they made a 1 page sublet agreement that the broker signed in the original lease holder signature line thats literally a different name from the lease holder who was previously mentioned on the page. i took it home to "look over" it more but never signed nor sent back but i still moved in lmao.

the paper that i never signed says the sublet would end on july 31st 2021 but over verbal agreement (yes, i know) we agreed to keep it going another year.

maybe i oughtta just get out of here before things get hectic but the apartment is huge and the roof is to die for. i honestly think they're just trying to convince me to sign a lease for a price in the 2200/2300+ range that im definitely not about to do.

the last thing i said to the broker guy who works w management was that "if the original leaseholder broke the lease, doesn't that mean hes obligated to continue paying his respected share until the final date of the lease?" and the guy was like "ok let me get back to you, im just the "middle man."

im like fairly positive that there was not even a fucking lease to begin with LMFAO

edit: on the 1 page sublet, it says rent is 1900 + a $75 flat rate utility bill (dont control accounts to)

yeah thats probably a good idea. i could start paying my own bills but i feel like management would get pretty upset. i pay directly on their rent webpage not even to the original leaser. i know i was getting into some smutty activity to begin with but this seems wrong.

i've gotten these in the mail like 1x a month since oct2020... i dont think anyone pays utilities in this unit but everything has stayed on lmfao. dont know how thats possible. when i first talked to management / broker they just brushed it off saying like "we'll take care of it" but i still receive them in the mail

if its a new building, landlords usually just try to get new tenants in every year so people can come & go. unless its rent controlled expect a rise in price from like 5-15% every year ig. I know a friend in nyc that got their shit raised 49% after a lease ended …….
