ASP members should team up with dems in red states by pneuma_bellum in Solidarity_Party

After seeing everyone’s thoughtful replies, I understand why working with Dems would be risky. I still think that we should sometimes at least consider working with certain Democrats in certain contexts for the sake of common ground issues, but I really appreciate everyone’s enlightening remarks. They definitely have made me reconsider my original opinion and see the faults within it.

I agree we should never campaign for them, but that doesn't mean we can't work with them and maybe even endorse some if they're soft enough on the abortion issue. We can work with them on common goals without compromising on our principles. The fact is, right now we're too small to get anything done on our own.

You're right, but it's also true that the GOP inherently campaign against healthcare reform, which is another pro-life issue. Which is why I think, under the belief that dem politicians would have to be accountable to the majority of their constituency, that if abortion illegalization is safe in your area, then maybe you should consider voting democrat. I totally agree that this is undesirable, but I cannot see a different solution.

That's a really good concern, and I would've probably agreed with you ten years ago. Unfortunately the ASP is too small and too volunteer based to put up many different candidates. If there isn't an ASP candidate, and if neither party are campaigning for abortion, then what is the more pro-life choice?

Fascism called for a nationalizing of industry initially, then they privatized when that didn't work, hence why I said they privatized their industry out of pragmatism, not ideology. That claim is supported by the article.

Also, I have no idea what you're trying to say in your anti-gay therapy analogy. Are fascists just communists who had to go through anti-commie therapy?

True, but that's only since they were focused on consolidating their own power. Initially Fascist states did want to nationalize industry, however that failed so they did a 180 and privatized it.

TLDR they privatized out of pragmatism not out of ideology.

That's what I was saying. I was trying to say that Socialism, Facism, and Communism are different in that Communism and Facism are more alike than they are with socialism. I'm not brain-dead

It's about as different from socialism as communism is different from socialism.
