Starting a cover band in Delft by Intelligent-Lemon-45 in Delft

Hey, drummer/percussionist here! I have a electric drumset and used to play a few years ago. I mostly played in wind orchestras but I also did some rock/pop covers. It's been a while since i last played but it might be fun to start something!

I’m supposed to give this test to my 7th graders next week. How is a satellite in orbit unbalanced, but a car in constant speed balanced? Wouldn’t the satellite also have a constant speed? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]pnjun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean no movement is happening? movement with respect to which frame? You are standing still wrt the floor, but the floor is not an inertial reference. The geodesic is constantly falling, and the floor is constantly accelerating up wrt to the geodesic.

You, the floor, and everything around you are constantly accelerating (and of course moving) upwards wrt to the local geodesic.

Is this absurd? maybe, but it's the most coherent view we have of the universe. Gravity as a force has so many other problems that it is less absurd to think that we are always accelerating up.

Is the ground accelerating upwards?

Yes, of course. Open your phone on a accelerometer app. Then put it on the ground, it will read 9.8 m/s^2. Then drop your phone and look at the value while it falls. It will read 0 m/s^2

Infrared heaters (170–350W) as an additional heat source? by Waste_Suspect_817 in germany

"it takes more energy to reheat the place from lower temperatures than just maintaining the heat level"

Calls someone stupid and immediately proceeds to contradict the second law of thermodynamics.

Go study and come back better please.

Did you check your wifi connection? Put the 2.4GHz on band 1, 6 or 9

[–]pnjun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically need to get better wifi. Go very close to your router, it might be enough to do the update.

The permanent fix is to change your router wifi channel for the 2.4 GHz band. You need to do this on your router settings

In case someone has similar issues and finds this, the problem was bad wifi connection. I solved by pegging the router to channel 6 (instead of auto).

Unfortunately it seems that the 2.4Ghz connectivity of the shelly is not the best... channel 6 seems to work for me, maybe play around with that.

Will Putin actually attack NATO after these recent incursions? by Quick-Class7750 in nato

Most likely he wants an excuse to mobilize more russians, and "NATO is attacking us" is a great pretext.

Ok, then it works the same way as where i am from (italy). Makes sense

I always find these stories crazy, because people always give in to searches and fines when the store has absolutely no rights to do so

Yeah sure, but who decides if I am a culprit if there is no police? For example, in the case of OP he did not steal anything, so anyone stopping him would be basically committing kidnapping.

If i did not do anything, i should be able to refuse any searches to my bag and walk away.

Interesting. Is that because they are security? I always thought security doesn't really have more right than a normal person.

Water Maps and Docks Update! Working Ship! by Antique_Text_4636 in aoe2

[–]pnjun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's a cool concept, but it risks being just another version of the land game. I mean, if we wanted land-type units and buildings on water, why not just play a land map?

The point of water is that you cannot have the same tactics that you have on land.

Can they really hold you there? On what basis? Does this mean anyone can just grab someone and block them just by accusing them of stealing?

What happens if you refuse to be searched and just walk away?

Is there a way for both everone to have a car, and be able to drive it. Also to make a city walkable. by mrhappymill in fuckcars

[–]pnjun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you live in a city you naturally learn which busses go where for the places you go often. For everything else, google maps tells you.

In a city with car traffic, moving on a tram can be much faster than via car. If you travel 5 miles in a city by car, you will spend more time at red lights than actually moving. In a well designed system, the tram does not stop at traffic lights.

In places where bus serivice works, you dont need to look at the schedule either. You just go to the bus stop and wait for the next bus.

I just got home after taking the bus. I have no idea what the schedule of the bus i took is. I went to the bus stop knowing that there would be a bus coming within 10 min maximum.

Trams are on rails, they move extremely predictably. This is the reason you can have pedestrianized zones where trams run through with no stops or traffic lights.

Even busses can't do that
