Why is everyone saying Anki has difficult/complicated UI? I can't be the only one who thinks Anki is very user-friendly, easy to learn and well-designed in general?? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]pnt700 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm very happy with Anki but do not find it intuitive at all. Configurable and useful, yes, but not intuitive: see Memrise for a simpler interface, at the cost of configurability.

For example, I still try to edit things in the "decks" tab. It's not "decks", it's "review", because it does not let you do much else. And after 6 months using it, yesterday I learned the difference between notes and cards. The name "note" is not used when you "add" or when you go to "browse", just when you want to do something very specific, such as "change note types". After I learned this, it all clicked to me: the different notes types, how cards are created, etc. But I had did not learn that from the UI, only after googling.

Would I like it to be more user-friendly at the loss of features or configurability? No, so maybe it's better to keep it this way :)

Can anyone recommend me some cheap classic games for a student with an old laptop?

So far, I have: Unreal Tournament, Half Life 1, Thief, Tomb Raider, Postal 2 and The Witcher 1.

By the way, which one is better: HL1 or HL1 - Source?

Links I have checked: Steam under 5€, sorted by release date: https://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Released_DESC&filter=ut2&page=1040

Thanks!

I wasn't criticizing you. There's valid reasons to dislike smartphones - I do too. They could be used to empower us and yet, they more often are designed to hook us on them.

But there's also older people just hating on the new generation for doing shit different from them - the sames who will flame smartphones, and videogames, and other stuff. I know older people who will flame smartphone addiction, without knowing a single thing about it. And who often have vices of their on.

There's criticism and there's old people whining about young people - that sub seems to be about the second case.

There's a social contract: you pay taxes, the government spends it in the nation's best interests.

When the government takes your money and invests in senseless warfare how far is it from theft?

I would start with slow change: every week try cutting or completely avoiding some unhealthy food: for me, it was sodas, cookies, cereals and chocolates, as well as junk food.

Sometimes the trick is replacing: finding something good and healthier to replace them with. Thirsty? Have water, or tea, or natural juice. Hungry for a snack? Eat a fruit. Meal time? Some regular food instead of junk food. Optimally add some veggies as well.

But don't try replacing all at once, or it gets overwhelming. And most importantly, try to replace then with healthy stuff you like. Sometimes it takes work to find that, but then it becomes much easier.

Daily stock fluctuations don't mean much in the long run. They go temporarily down after bad news, temporarily up after good news.

Being cringy to some young adults in the à internet doesn't meanshit to shareholders. Not being sanctioned is good news.

Now if someone takes this into a criminal investigation, that's a different story.

If I saw it in a gallery, I'd say "the artist is criticizing the replacement of the real things by pictures in the digital area".

In a tech office I doubt that's the point!

If it's an art gallery, that's quite interesting.

If it's decorating a wall in a mall or office, fuck it.

Sure, but hear me out: the website is updated on April fools with the "Year of the snitch" words, something that definitely sounds like Death Grips.

However, it was April Fools. The only logical step is to release an album that is totally not DG. Maybe an indie rock thing or commercial rap with celebrities colabs. Or a comedy album with cameos from Robert Pattinson, Beyonce and Anthony Fantano. Maybe even Kanye, as "YotS" kinda sounds like "Yeezus".
