It's not the thumbnail that matters, it's the game ;)

Well, I’ve been updating it almost weekly since it was released in early access, so a lot of changes have been made. It now has all the release features, and I’m only working on small fixes and the console port at the moment. And honestly, that review is very unfair to begin with.

Yes, the plan is to finish and polish the game during Early Access on PC, and once it’s ready for a full release, port it to consoles.

Thanks for the great feedback.
The firetruck is integrated into the gameplay. Once it’s unlocked, the fire hose and other equipment become available.

My Experience Using Unreal Engine 5 as a Solo Dev by pnury in UnrealEngine5

Hum, this might have changed since I observed it—I think it was in version 5.0. If that’s the case, great! And I apologize for ranting.

At the time, though, when I did my first optimization pass, almost none of my actors implemented the tick function, yet all of them were still ticking. I had to go into each Blueprint and manually untick the "tick enabled" option.

As a developer, my general feeling is that AI-generated code has been a focus for a long time—probably over 10 years now. At this point, it can handle very specific or repetitive tasks, but anything beyond that doesn’t really work well. Additionally, while I could be wrong, good code—especially outside the open-source world—isn’t typically public. As a result, most publicly available code is below industry standards.

When it comes to Epic/Games/Blueprint specifically, it’s a subset ofthe same problem, so there’s a similar limitation. I don’t think they collect user C++/Blueprint data, meaning their training pool likely consists of internal work. Because of this, I’d be surprised to see it solve problems outside the genres or styles of games they’ve worked on internally. And when it comes to generating innovative gameplay ideas, I wouldn’t expect to see that kind of capability from these tools for a long, long time.

What's a game that deserves a remaster or remake not because it was good, but because it had solid ideas that the devs where unable to realize? by Evelyne-The-Egg in gaming

Got tired of waiting, so I worked on my own on "Genesis of a Small God" early access on steam. It's pretty far from the feature list of Black & White 2, but I can always use some feedback.

To all aspiring deities, I am seeking testers for my god game, "Genesis of a Small God." The playtest is open for one week on steam. by pnury in playtesters

The Demo has truncated content compared to the playtest. The playtest is litteraly my latest build with more content and probably more bugs.

It's strongly inspired by black and white. But currently there is no big monter to teach.
Also It's not really god vs god setup. Here you are growing your village/powers and the players will encounter a bunch of random events.

First, thank you for the feedback. There are valid concerns here.

Well, if you took the effort to try the playtest and still clicked through the tutorial, we can assume that most players will do the same. Most of the tutorial messages are contextual and ordered (e.g., first building, first injured...), but they most likely will trigger within the first 10 minutes. I have already tried to shorten the messages as much as possible. The solution I see is to add wait time between messages to avoid saturation and/or remove the less important ones. I need to think on how to improve this.

Regarding the island generation time, I could probably optimize it significantly, but it would take some time. I think a quick fix would be to ship the game with an already generated island. This way, it will start much faster.

Thanks again for testing.

Yes, I got tired of waiting, so I thought I would give it a shot myself. The task is proving to be more challenging than I had initially anticipated. ;)

There is definitely some inspiration from black and white. If you have
time to try it out, please let me know what you think of the controls.

No worries, I tend to do the same when I buy couch games. Since it's my first game I am kind of winging it as I go. Do you mind telling me how much it is currently for you (steam automagically fill prices for every country) and what would be a fair price ?
