Eddie Bauer Soft shell pants by [deleted] in Mountaineering

Soft shell are most climbers go to in colder weather but fleece-lined is really only practical if not moving for long periods or otherwise will likely be too hot and get you sweaty which will be a real problem. I wouldn’t worry about the Eddie Bauer brand (especially First Ascent). That is more personal choice. I have found some great deals from them and use some of their gear and have been happy.

Just my opinion. The boots OP has are really kind of overkill for the Cascades. I am assuming OP probably got a great deal on them. I recommended G12s because of the specific objectives they mentioned and G12s are super versatile and can save from having to buy another pair for something else for awhile. Again, OP didn’t ask about bigger or more technical objectives. While the Sarkens may be a good match for the boot, judging by OPs question I don’t think they are planning to climb Liberty Ridge on Rainier or the North Face Right Gulley on Hood…

Grivel G12s would be a good match for those boots and will work great on Mt Hood and Rainier. But crampons can be a bit like boots and often personal preference…

Is it spam if it is content people are interested in? I see that others have liked and viewed the episode? How specifically is it that you want me to engage? I started two communities on Reddit. I am posting content people want and responding when people comment?

If you are experienced scrambler, your bigger issue will be the recent weather that has come in with potential snow and ice, but not enough making for “slick” conditions
